On the yearly bill, neither is cheaper: Tailor Brands lists its agent service at $199/year and ZenBusiness at $199/year, and both renew at that figure. The gap is in the first year and the fine print. ZenBusiness gives 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC; Tailor Brands publishes no first-year discount. On refunds, Tailor Brands' terms say all fees are non-refundable. ZenBusiness allows a refund request only while the agent service is still unused, and its agent terms say you cancel by calling support.1, 2, 3, 4
Tailor Brands sits higher in our score order. Its business coaching is "Included with any plan purchased", while ZenBusiness offers a one-on-one consultation, Premium only. ZenBusiness publishes more prices for the things you buy after formation, such as annual report filing at $100 per report.2, 5, 6

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the
Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and
two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services.
Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.
The table shows the same Trustpilot average for both. The review counts behind them are not alike: 4.8 / 5, 17,815 reviews for Tailor Brands against 4.8 / 5, 32,795 reviews for ZenBusiness.7, 8
Tailor Brands: $199/year; renews $199/year (renews at the same price). Provided by Tailor Brands
All-in-one platform: Tailor Brands sells 9 of the 10 business service types we track; ZenBusiness sells 7.
Founders outside the U.S.: Tailor Brands publishes an option for founders outside the U.S. (see its review); ZenBusiness doesn't publish one.
The legal requirement is identical for both: a street address in your state where process can
be served. Neither can help you around it, and neither needs to.
Our method for scoring providers explains why the order above comes out the way it does. The rest of this page goes through the points where the published terms part ways.
What does each agent cost in the first year and after?
For an owner who already has an LLC, the two bills match: each charges the full yearly price from the start ($199/year at Tailor Brands, $199/year at ZenBusiness) and renews at that same amount.2
Tailor Brands gives its renewal as one that renews at the same price. One caveat applies to Tailor Brands only: its agent price and renewal aren't printed on a public page yet. The figures here are the ones the company provides, so confirm them at checkout.1
For a new LLC, ZenBusiness's agent page headlines "$99 + state fees for the first year. Renews at $199/yr." That discount is tied to forming with ZenBusiness. Its formation plans don't bundle the agent, though; every plan lists it as "Not included; add-on +$199/yr", so it is a line you add at checkout.3, 9
The Tailor Brands plan lists we read don't mention the registered agent, and Tailor Brands doesn't publish whether any plan includes one or discounts it.
ZenBusiness's terms add one more sentence worth reading before the second bill: "ZenBusiness may increase its fees for RA Services effective the first day of a RA Service Term." Tailor Brands doesn't publish a comparable rule either way. If a fixed price over several years is what you're after, neither company writes one into the terms we read.10
What does the agent service itself include at each company?
Both scan legal papers and post them to an online dashboard. The difference is in what happens to the paper copy.
Tailor Brands' agent terms say "We will scan and upload copies of all Legal Mail received at the Registered Address." Its marketing copy also promises an agent who receives and forwards your legal documents, but the terms don't say whether originals are ever posted to you.11
ZenBusiness is explicit: "Originals will not be forwarded unless the material being sent cannot be copied." For urgent papers it mentions mail and overnight delivery.10
ZenBusiness limits the service by entity type: its agent page describes coverage for LLCs and corporations, so check before appointing it for another kind of company.3
On privacy, the agent's address goes in the agent field of your state filing with either company, as it does with every agent. That part is identical. What stays public beyond the agent field depends on the state.
The real gap is a separate product. Tailor Brands sells a Virtual Address ("Keep your home address off public records with a professional business address."), with no published price. Its agent terms also forbid using the agent address as your business address: "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials." ZenBusiness doesn't publish a business address product among the prices we read. The privacy list explains what an address product can and can't cover.11, 12
How do cancelling and refunds compare?
Both renew automatically. Tailor Brands' terms say "We have implemented an automatic renewal option by default for subscription-based services." ZenBusiness's terms say the service renews on its own, and add that "We may send a reminder email to your email address of record before your Billing Date." That reminder is optional in the wording ("may").4, 10
Cancelling works differently.
At Tailor Brands, the agent terms say "You may cancel the Registered Agent Services by notifying us and completing the necessary steps." Its general terms add: "You can cancel your account at any given time by visiting your account settings."12
At ZenBusiness, the agent terms send you to the support line at (844) 493-6249.10
Refunds diverge more. Tailor Brands states all fees are non-refundable. Where it does issue a refund, it deducts a $29 service fee. Its agent terms promise money back in one case only, when Tailor Brands ends the service itself: "we will refund any prepaid fees specifically related to the Registered Agent Services."4
ZenBusiness's agent terms open the door slightly wider: "If you have not yet used the Registered Agent Services, and do not wish to comply with these RA Terms," you may ask for a refund. Its general terms for yearly subscriptions say: "After 30 days, we can cancel your subscription but no prorated refunds will be issued."10
Whichever you leave, file the change of agent with your state before you cancel, or the company can end up with no agent on record. Our guides on changing your registered agent and cancelling an agent service give the order of steps.
How do the LLC formation plans compare?
Both have an entry plan that costs nothing beyond state fees, and both put faster processing and compliance filing in the paid tiers. The entry plans are where they differ most.
Speed on the entry plan: Tailor Brands lists "Lite: within 14 business days" and ZenBusiness lists "Starter: 7-10 days", with a Rush upgrade at +$79. On the paid plans the two match: Tailor Brands gives "Essential/Elite: within 1 business day" and ZenBusiness gives "Pro/Premium: 1 day". ZenBusiness notes that "ZenBusiness processing times do not include Secretary of State processing times, which can vary." Tailor Brands doesn't say whether its times include the state's queue.9, 13
What the entry plan leaves out also differs. Tailor Brands' Lite has no annual compliance, operating agreement or branding tools. ZenBusiness's Starter sells the EIN as a $99 one-time add-on and the operating agreement template as another $99 one-time add-on; both come included from Pro up.2, 13
At the top, Tailor Brands' Elite adds a 1-year free domain, DIY website/online store, logos and more, and ZenBusiness's Premium adds Advanced Compliance Protection, domain and email. Legal templates come lower down at Tailor Brands, in the Essential plan at $199/yr. At ZenBusiness the template library is included in Premium; $99 one-time add-on for Starter or Pro.9, 13, 14, 15
Who files the annual report, and at what price?
Both include annual report filing in their paid plans. Tailor Brands lists "Annual compliance: mandatory report filing & updates" in Essential and Elite, and ZenBusiness includes the filing in Pro and Premium. ZenBusiness adds a trial for the entry plan: "Starter includes one optional free year of Worry-Free Compliance (renews at $199/yr)."9, 13
The price list is where they part. ZenBusiness sells the filing separately, as Worry-Free Compliance at $199/year or as a single filing at $100 per report. Tailor Brands lists no standalone price. A Lite buyer who later wants the filing done has no figure to plan around. Not every state requires an LLC annual report; how annual reports work covers which filings recur.2
Which should you pick?
Pick by the condition that fits you. Each line names the published fact that decides it.
You form a new LLC and want the lowest first-year agent bill. ZenBusiness, because of 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. From the second year the two cost the same. See the cheapest registered agent services.3
You want more business services under one account. Tailor Brands sells 9 of the 10 service types we track; ZenBusiness sells 7. The all-in-one list shows the rest.
For a founder who isn't a U.S. citizen, Tailor Brands links a sign-up flow for non-US citizens from its LLC page; ZenBusiness doesn't publish whether it serves founders outside the U.S. Compare the providers for non-resident founders.16
If you want a business address product, Tailor Brands sells a Virtual Address, which it describes as a way to "Keep your home address off public records with a professional business address." ZenBusiness doesn't publish one. See the privacy list.11
You want a person to coach you without buying the top plan. Tailor Brands' coaching is "Included with any plan purchased"; ZenBusiness offers a one-on-one consultation, Premium only. Both include all three supports in some plan, so the first-time founders list orders them by our score.5, 6
For report filing at a known price without a plan, ZenBusiness lists $100 per report; Tailor Brands doesn't publish one. The compliance list groups providers by how they file.2
For the option of a refund on an unused agent year, ZenBusiness is the one whose agent terms allow a request before the service is used. Tailor Brands' terms say all fees are non-refundable.4
Registered agent: $199/year; renews $199/year (renews at the same price). Provided by Tailor Brands
Formation: Lite: $0 plus state fees (LLC formation processed within 14 business days, bookkeeping 30-day free trial, business coaching platform, sales and payments; no annual compliance, operating agreement or branding tools). Tailor Brands website, tailorbrands.com/product-pricing
Compliance: Included in Essential and Elite (annual compliance report filing and updates); not in Lite. Tailor Brands website, tailorbrands.com/product-pricing
Formation: Starter: $0 + state fees (does not renew) (Initial state filing, standard 7-10 day processing; Worry-Free Compliance free for 1 year (then $199/yr); EIN and operating agreement are +$99 add-ons). ZenBusiness website, zenbusiness.com/pricing-formation-plans
Do Tailor Brands and ZenBusiness charge the same for a registered agent?
Yes, on the yearly price: both charge $199/year and renew at that amount. ZenBusiness cuts the first year in half when you form your LLC with it; Tailor Brands doesn't publish a first-year discount. Tailor Brands' figure comes from the company rather than a public page.1
Is the registered agent included in either company's LLC plans?
ZenBusiness lists the agent as a paid add-on at +$199/yr on every formation plan, and its agent page separately advertises a first-year discount when you form an LLC. Tailor Brands doesn't publish whether any of its plans includes the agent. Ask at checkout before assuming a plan covers it.9
Which one is easier to cancel?
Tailor Brands' terms describe notifying the company and completing its steps, and its general terms point to account settings. ZenBusiness asks you to call support at (844) 493-6249. With either, record the new agent with your state first.10
Can I get my money back if I change my mind?
ZenBusiness lets you request a refund if you haven't used the agent service yet. Tailor Brands' terms say its fees are non-refundable, and any refund it does issue carries a $29 service fee. ZenBusiness's agent terms state no time window for that request.4
How do I reach each company's support?
Tailor Brands lists phone support at 1-332-286-2770 and chat, with no published hours. ZenBusiness lists phone, live chat and its Velo assistant, with no email support; its listed hours are Mon-Fri 8am-8pm CT; Sat-Sun 9am-6pm CT.17, 18
Do both offer AI guidance?
Yes. Tailor Brands says "Every plan comes with Navi built in," referring to its Navi assistant, and ZenBusiness includes its Velo AI guide in all plans. Neither replaces the instructions your state publishes for its filings, so read those before you file anything.6, 19
