Tailor Brands registered agent review (2026)
Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.
Tailor Brands charges $199/year for its registered agent service, and it renews at the same price, according to figures supplied by the provider; neither figure appeared on a public Tailor Brands page when we checked. The service covers all 50 states. Its registered agent terms say legal mail is scanned and uploaded, and its agent page says documents go to a business dashboard. The general terms set auto-renewal on by default and say "all fees are non-refundable." The terms fit owners who want legal papers on a dashboard; Tailor Brands publishes no free agent year with formation and no refund window.1, 2, 3

How much is the Tailor Brands registered agent after the first year?
The renewal quoted is $199/year, the same as the starting price, so at today's figures year two of the agent service costs what year one does.1
Both figures were supplied by the provider rather than taken from a public page, and the Sources list marks them that way. Until they appear on a public page, check the price at checkout.
The pricing page itself backs that advice. It carries a disclaimer: "The binding price is the one presented to the customer at the time of payment." Nothing we found in the published terms fixes the agent renewal for later years either, so treat the renewal figure as today's price.4
Tailor Brands doesn't publish a free or discounted agent year. Its plan cards for LLC formation don't mention the registered agent at all, so the pages don't say whether Lite, Essential or Elite include one. That leaves two routes, and only one has a stated cost.
- You already have an LLC and want to switch. You pay $199/year and file your state's change-of-agent form, which may carry its own state fee. The guide to changing your registered agent sets out the order of steps.
- You form an LLC through a Tailor Brands plan. Ask whether the agent is part of the plan before you order, because the plan cards are silent on it.
Don't confuse the agent price with the Essential formation plan ($199/yr plus state fees). They carry the same number, but they are separate products, and the Essential card doesn't list an agent.4
What isn't priced on Tailor Brands' pages
A few costs have no published figure.
- The EIN service, which Tailor Brands describes as "We'll file your EIN with the state and send it to you when it's ready." No price appears beside it.5
- The Virtual Address product, which is sold separately.
- A standalone annual report filing. Report filing is listed inside the Essential and Elite plans; there is no price for buying it on its own.
- Support hours, which aren't stated.
For the state's share of the yearly bill, our guide to how annual reports work explains the state side of the yearly bill.
How does Tailor Brands handle your legal mail?
Its registered agent terms say: "We will scan and upload copies of all Legal Mail received at the Registered Address." The agent page puts it more simply: "We scan your documents and upload them to your business dashboard for easy access." The agent page adds: "We’ll let you know when a new document is ready for review on your LLC dashboard."2
| Mail scanning | Yes, documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard |
|---|---|
| Mail forwarding | Agent receives and forwards legal documents |
| Compliance alerts | Regular reminders; agent can file the annual report if instructed |
| Online dashboard | Yes, LLC dashboard with new-document notifications |
Some details are worth reading closely.
- Scan, then upload. The marketing page says the agent "receives and forwards your legal documents," but the terms describe scanning and uploading only. Tailor Brands doesn't publish whether originals are ever posted to you, or by which carrier.2
- The scanning promise in the terms names Legal Mail. Tailor Brands doesn't publish what happens to bank letters, invoices or other ordinary post sent to the agent address, so ask before you rely on it.
- The agent page says the service covers all 50 states.
What the agent address can and can't be used for
Every registered agent lists its own address in the agent field of your state filing, so that field shows the agent rather than you. That holds for every provider on this site. Tailor Brands' terms add one more limit: "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials." The agent address is for receiving legal papers, and you can't present it as where your company does business.6
For a business address, Tailor Brands sells a separate Virtual Address product, described as "Keep your home address off public records with a professional business address." No price is published for it. Whether a state lets you use that address in the principal office or mailing fields of your filing is set by that state's law. Our page on what an agent can and can't keep off the public record explains which fields stay public.2
Reminders and deadline tracking
Reminders come up in two places, and neither is the agent terms. The agent page, in a passage explaining what agents do, says: "Your registered agent will also send you regular reminders, and if instructed, they can even file your annual report." Separately, the homepage describes Navi, Tailor Brands' AI assistant: "Navi is your built-in AI that tracks filings and deadlines, suggests your next step, and keeps your business moving forward." It adds "Every plan comes with Navi built in." If reminders are your reason for choosing a provider, ask which product sends them and whether they continue if you keep only the agent service.2, 7
How do renewal, cancellation and refunds work at Tailor Brands?
| Auto-renewal | Yes, auto-renewal on by default for subscription services |
|---|---|
| How to cancel | Cancel by notifying Tailor Brands and completing the required steps |
| Refund policy | Fees non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law; $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued |
Renewal. The general terms say "We have implemented an automatic renewal option by default for subscription-based services." The registered agent terms don't set out separate renewal rules. If the agent is billed as a subscription, as its yearly price suggests, that default means it renews unless you stop it.3
Cancelling. The registered agent terms say "You may cancel the Registered Agent Services by notifying us and completing the necessary steps." That sentence doesn't say what the steps are. The general terms add "You can cancel your account at any given time by visiting your account settings." For an agent service, cancelling in your account isn't the whole job, because the state still lists Tailor Brands as your agent until you file a change. The safe order is below.6
- Pick a new agent, or confirm you can serve as your own in your state.
- File the change of agent with the state and wait for it to be accepted.
- Then cancel the Tailor Brands service before the renewal date.
Stopping the service first can leave your LLC with no agent on record. The Arizona registered agent guide shows what one state does about that, and our guide to cancelling a registered agent covers the steps for any state.
Refunds. The general terms say "all fees are non-refundable." That applies to the maximum extent the law permits. Where a refund is issued, the same terms deduct a $29 service fee. The registered agent terms promise one kind of refund: if Tailor Brands ends the service itself, "we will refund any prepaid fees specifically related to the Registered Agent Services." Neither document gives a refund window for a renewal you didn't mean to keep, so the reliable protection is cancelling before the charge.3
What do Tailor Brands' LLC plans include, and what do they leave out?
Tailor Brands sells three LLC plans, with state fees extra on all plans. Essential and Elite are priced per year.4
| Package | Price | Includes | Registered agent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lite | $0 plus state fees | LLC formation processed within 14 business days, bookkeeping 30-day free trial, business coaching platform, sales and payments; no annual compliance, operating agreement or branding tools | Not stated |
| Essential | $199/yr plus state fees | LLC formation processed within 1 business day, annual compliance (report filing and updates), operating agreement, legal compliance, bookkeeping trial, coaching, funding search, sales and payments, $30 Amazon gift card | Not stated |
| Elite | $249/yr plus state fees | Everything in Essential plus 1-year free domain, DIY website/online store, logos, digital business card, social media post maker, business card tools, $50 Amazon gift card | Not stated |
| State fees | Yes, state fees extra on all plans |
|---|---|
| Expedited filing | 1-business-day processing included in Essential and Elite; no separately priced expedite option shown |
| Processing time | Lite: within 14 business days; Essential/Elite: within 1 business day |
Lite ($0 plus state fees). The Lite card says "Process the LLC within 14 business days." It also lists a bookkeeping 30-day free trial, business coaching platform, sales and payments. The card marks what is missing, which comes to no annual compliance, operating agreement or branding tools. If you choose Lite, the annual report and the operating agreement are yours to handle.4
Essential ($199/yr plus state fees). Its card lists annual compliance (report filing and updates), operating agreement, legal compliance, bookkeeping trial, coaching, funding search, sales and payments. On processing it says "Process the LLC within 1 business day." Funding search is described as "No extra cost with Essential and Elite plans."4, 8
Elite ($249/yr plus state fees). Everything in Essential, plus 1-year free domain, DIY website/online store, logos, digital business card, social media post maker, business card tools.4
Some things the plan cards leave unstated.
- None of the three cards mentions the registered agent.
- The EIN. The plan cards don't list it. Tailor Brands' formation page says "we'll help you get your EIN (tax ID), apply for an LLC, and more!", and the EIN product has no published price, so ask which plan covers it.5
- The timing. The plan cards give fixed processing times, while the LLC formation page says "It usually takes between 7 to 10 days to form an LLC." The cards don't say whether their times include the state's own queue. Tailor Brands' terms also mention government expedite fees as a possible extra cost.4
- Essential and Elite are shown per year, and the cards say nothing more about what a second plan year costs.
Some states add steps after the articles are filed, such as a publication notice or an initial report, and no plan card mentions them. Each state's walkthrough covers those, for example our Arizona LLC formation walkthrough and the cheapest way to form an Arizona LLC.

What Tailor Brands doesn't publish
Not found on Tailor Brands's own website: year founded, free or discounted first year, deadline reminders, ein without an ssn, u.s. bank account help, support hours.
The questions most worth asking before you buy are whether your chosen plan includes the agent, where the renewal price is written into your contract, and what happens to ordinary mail at the agent address.
Can you use Tailor Brands if you live outside the U.S.?
Tailor Brands has a separate sign-up flow for people who aren't U.S. citizens, linked from the LLC formation page. Tailor Brands publishes no eligibility rules or separate prices for it.9
Tailor Brands doesn't publish whether its EIN service can file for a founder without a Social Security number, or whether it helps a non-resident open a U.S. bank account.
Founders abroad can't act as their own agent without a physical address in the state, so they rely on a commercial one. Our page of agents compared for non-resident founders lists the providers that say they serve them.

Who do Tailor Brands' published terms suit?
These points each rest on one published fact, and several match a best-for list on this site. Those lists are ordered by their own stated basis and then by our score.
These owners match the published terms.
- First-time founders. Tailor Brands includes all three supports we track in a plan. Annual report filing comes in Essential and Elite, and the line is struck through on the Lite card. Business coaching with a business trainer giving one-on-one guidance plus expert workshops is "Included with any plan purchased," and Navi AI guidance is built into every plan. See the list for first-time founders.11
- Owners who want one company for the agent and what follows. Tailor Brands sells 9 of the 10 business service types we track, with an online dashboard. The all-in-one list shows the count for each provider.
- Owners who want the annual report filed for them. Essential and Elite list "Annual compliance: mandatory report filing & updates." Lite doesn't. The compliance list puts providers that file the report inside a plan ahead of those that only remind.4
- Founders outside the U.S., with the caveats above. Tailor Brands links a separate sign-up flow for non-US citizens, which places it on the non-resident list.
- Owners who want a separate business address. Tailor Brands sells a Virtual Address product, which puts it on the privacy page, though the price isn't published.
These owners should compare first.
- If lowest cost is the goal, several providers publish a lower standalone agent price than the $199/year Tailor Brands quotes. The registered agent prices side by side show each one's renewal too.
- You want a refund window. The general terms make fees non-refundable, with a $29 fee taken from any refund that is issued.
- You want the agent free for a year with formation. Tailor Brands publishes no such offer.
- You need ordinary mail handled. The terms cover legal mail only.
Which providers make a different trade-off?
Each of these differs from Tailor Brands on a specific published point. Figures come from each provider's own pages.
Northwest Registered Agent: if you want a lower agent price and a stated refund period. Northwest lists $125 per year. Its terms say "You may terminate or cancel your Service anytime by logging onto your account," and it states "There are no fees to cancel." It also scans ordinary business mail, up to 5 docs per year, at no charge. Purchases become non-refundable after 90 days, a window Tailor Brands' terms don't state. See the Northwest review or Tailor Brands vs Northwest.12, 13, 14
Bizee: if you want a free agent year when you form. Bizee lists $149/year and says that with its formation packages "you get one year of Registered Agent Service for free." Service of process is mailed via FedEx with tracking, where Tailor Brands' terms describe scanning and uploading only. See the Bizee review or Tailor Brands vs Bizee.15, 16
InCorp Services: if you want same-day scans and a stated refund period. InCorp lists $129/year and says "Legal documents scanned and delivered to you the same day they arrive." Its terms say "All refund requests must be made within sixty (60) days of the issuance of services." The trade-off is at formation, where the agent is sold separately at $129 per state per year. See the InCorp review.17, 18, 19, 20
Tailor Brands is also compared head to head with two more providers: Tailor Brands vs ZenBusiness and Tailor Brands vs LegalZoom. The ZenBusiness review and LegalZoom review have the detail, and every provider is on the comparison table.
Tailor Brands registered agent FAQ
How much does Tailor Brands charge for a registered agent?
Tailor Brands charges $199/year, and it renews at the same price, according to figures supplied by the provider. Neither figure was on a public Tailor Brands page when we checked, so confirm the amount at checkout.1
Is the registered agent included in Tailor Brands' LLC plans?
Tailor Brands' plan cards for Lite, Essential and Elite don't mention a registered agent, so the published pages don't answer this. Ask Tailor Brands before ordering, and compare the cost with buying the agent on its own.
Does Tailor Brands scan mail sent to the agent address?
Its registered agent terms say it scans and uploads all legal mail, and its agent page says the scans go to your business dashboard. Tailor Brands doesn't publish what happens to ordinary business mail, so ask first if you expect bank or vendor letters at that address.
Can I get a refund from Tailor Brands?
The general terms say fees are non-refundable to the extent the law allows, and any refund that is issued has a $29 service fee taken off. Prepaid agent fees are refunded if Tailor Brands itself ends the service. Cancel before the renewal date rather than counting on a refund.3
How do I cancel the Tailor Brands registered agent service?
The terms say you cancel by notifying Tailor Brands and completing the necessary steps, and accounts can be closed in account settings. File your new agent with the state first, then cancel, so your LLC always has an agent on record. Our glossary defines the filing terms.
Does Tailor Brands file annual reports?
Yes, in the Essential and Elite plans, which list annual report filing and updates. Lite leaves it out. There is no published price for buying the filing on its own, outside a plan. Whether your state requires a yearly report at all is covered in how annual reports work.
What is Tailor Brands' Trustpilot rating?
Tailor Brands' Trustpilot profile shows 4.8 / 5, 17,815 reviews. Ratings describe customer experiences, not the terms above, and our reviews hub links every provider we compare.21
