doola registered agent review (2026)
Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.
doola lists its registered agent service at $297 per year, and the agent is free when you form your company through one of doola's formation plans. It doesn't publish a separate renewal price.1
The listed agent price is the same figure as doola's cheapest formation plan, Starter ($297/yr), and doola's pages don't say whether an agent-only order is billed apart from that plan. What the agent service includes is clearer: same-day scans of documents received at the agent address, a dashboard, and annual report notifications. Physical forwarding costs extra unless your plan says otherwise. The published terms suit founders who want formation, an EIN and a U.S. address in one annual plan, including founders outside the U.S. Owners who only need an agent for an existing LLC will find lower standalone prices elsewhere.2

How much does doola charge for its registered agent?
The only agent price doola publishes is $297 per year, the same amount as its Starter plan, which bundles the agent with formation, an EIN and a business address.
doola's agent page puts it this way: "Registered Agent is free with doola’s Formation Service." The page gives no length for that free period. Every formation plan is priced per year and lists the agent, but doola doesn't publish whether the agent stays included at each renewal.1
That leaves two routes, and only one of them has a clear published cost.
- You form a new LLC with doola. You pay the plan price plus your state's filing fee, which doola says is paid directly to the state through doola. The agent comes with every plan.2
- You already have an LLC and want doola as your agent. doola lists $297 per year, but its pages don't say whether that order is the agent alone or the Starter plan with its other items. You would also file a change-of-agent form with your state, which can carry a state fee. Our guide to changing your registered agent sets out the order of steps.
What happens in year two?
doola publishes no renewal figure for the agent. Its terms of service say that recurring charges "automatically renew at the rates then in effect." That clause is in the general terms, so it covers whatever plan you hold. Put simply, the second-year bill is whatever doola charges for your plan at that time, and nothing in the published terms fixes it in advance.3
For scale, a standalone agent from Bizee is listed at $149/year and from InCorp at $129/year. The registered agent services compared on price list shows each starting price next to its renewal.4, 5
What doola's pricing pages leave open
- A renewal price for the agent on its own.
- Annual report filing as a separate purchase. doola's help article says the Tax and Compliance plan covers your annual state compliance filings (like annual reports), so the filing comes inside a plan, with no standalone price beside it.6
- Mail forwarding. doola's terms mention forwarding for an additional fee without naming the fee.3
- The states doola covers as agent, which its agent page doesn't list.
What does doola do with mail sent to your agent address?
doola scans documents the day they arrive and stores them online; its agent page says you can "Receive local document scans within the same day" and keep "secure storage for all scanned documents." Paper forwarding is a separate matter.1
| Mail scanning | Yes, same-day scans |
|---|---|
| Mail forwarding | Not included in base RA subscription unless stated in plan |
| Compliance alerts | Yes, annual report notifications |
| Online dashboard | Yes |
doola describes the result as "digital access to physical mail via doola’s dashboard." The agent page doesn't say whether the same-day promise covers ordinary business mail or only legal papers, so if you plan to receive bank letters or vendor post at the agent address, ask before you order.1
Forwarding of originals is narrower. In doola's words, "Physical mail forwarding is not included in your base registered agent subscription unless otherwise stated in your plan." Its terms say forwarding is available for an additional fee, and no figure is published.3
Annual report notifications
The agent page lists "Timely notifications for annual reports" among the agent features. A notification is a reminder, though, and doola doesn't file the report unless your plan includes filing. doola's pricing grid confirms that Starter does not include ongoing compliance filings. How annual reports work, and which states require one, is covered in annual reports explained.1, 6
Privacy and the business address
doola's agent page talks about giving your company "a separate public-facing address for your business." Two separate things sit behind that line. Any registered agent you hire, doola included, puts its own address in the agent field of the state filing, so that field never shows your home. Other fields, such as a principal office or member names, are set by each state's law.1
The part that differs by provider is the business address product, and doola's Starter plan lists a "US Business Address" among its items. Whether a state accepts that address in a given field depends on that state. Our page on what an agent can and can't keep off the record explains which fields stay public.7
How do renewal, cancellation and refunds work at doola?
doola's renewal, cancellation and refund rules come from its general terms of service, and none of them is written for the registered agent service in particular.
| Auto-renewal | Yes, recurring fees auto-renew |
|---|---|
| How to cancel | Delete account any time, or email help@doola.com |
| Refund policy | Refund possible if application cancelled before it is sent to the state |
Renewal. Recurring fees renew automatically at the rates in effect when they renew. doola's pages give no notice period before a renewal charge.
Cancelling. The terms say "You may delete your account at any time, for any reason", either through the instructions in the service or by email to help@doola.com. That is account cancellation. doola doesn't publish a separate process for ending only the agent service while keeping other items.3
Deleting your account doesn't change the state record. Until your state accepts a new agent, doola stays named on your filing, and if the service stops first your LLC may have no working agent. So the order runs like this.
- Pick a new agent, or confirm that you can act as your own agent in your state.
- File the change-of-agent form with the state and wait for it to be accepted.
- Then cancel with doola, by email or through the account.
Our guide to cancelling a registered agent covers the same steps for any state.
Refunds. doola's refund wording is about applications it sends to a state or government agency. "If you cancel your application before we send your application to a state or government agency, then you may be able to receive a refund." The same terms also say "All payments are nonrefundable" and "We may deny any refund at our discretion." doola publishes no refund rule written specifically for renewals of an annual plan.3
What do doola's formation plans include, and what do they leave out?
doola sells three annual plans, and all three include its registered agent. State fees are extra on every plan and are paid directly to the state through doola.2
| Package | Price | Includes | Registered agent |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $297/yr | LLC filing, EIN, US bank account guidance, US business address, registered agent | Yes, duration not stated |
| Tax and Compliance | $1,999/yr | Starter plus federal and state tax filing and 1:1 tax consultation | Yes (everything in Starter), duration not stated |
| Business-in-a-Box™ | $2,999/yr ($329/mo) | Tax and Compliance plus monthly statements, synced bookkeeping/taxes, estimated quarterly taxes | Yes (everything in Tax and Compliance), duration not stated |
| State fees | Yes |
|---|---|
| Expedited filing | Faster EIN in Tax and Compliance plan and above |
| Processing time | 1-2 business days filing |
Starter ($297/yr). It covers LLC filing, EIN, US bank account guidance, US business address, registered agent. doola's formation page also lists "Operating Agreement & Articles of Organization" as part of the formation step, though it doesn't say which plans include the operating agreement. Starter leaves out annual report filing and tax filing.2, 7
Tax and Compliance ($1,999/yr). Everything in Starter plus federal (IRS) and state tax filing and a 1:1 tax consultation. The formation page adds "Bookkeeping + Invoicing Software" and "EIN up to 2 weeks faster." This is the first plan where doola files your annual state report for you, according to its help article.2, 7
Business-in-a-Box ($2,999/yr). Everything in Tax and Compliance plus monthly financial statements, synced bookkeeping and taxes, and estimated quarterly taxes. doola's pages give more than one figure for this plan: the FAQ lists $329/mo, while the pricing card shows a lower monthly price next to "Save 25% Annually." Check the amount at checkout.2
Three points go unstated or vary across doola's pages.
- Speed. doola says formation is filed in 1 to 2 business days, while the formation page also gives 1 week (on average) for formation and 4-6 weeks (on average) for documents for non-U.S. residents. None of these lines says how much of that is the state's own queue.2
- Expedite. doola publishes no paid expedited filing option. The faster-EIN line in Tax and Compliance is the only speed-up it lists.
- State steps after filing. Some states add a step after formation, such as Arizona's publication rule in its LLC statute. doola's plan descriptions don't mention publication, so check your state's page, for example the Arizona LLC formation walkthrough.
| Annual report filing service | Not published |
|---|---|
| Deadline reminders | Yes, annual report notifications |
| EIN service | Included in Starter |
| Operating agreement | Included in formation step |
| Virtual address | US business address included in Starter |
The compliance table shows no standalone annual report service because doola publishes none. The filing exists only inside the two higher plans.
What doola doesn't publish
Not found on doola's own website: headquarters, renewal price, states covered, annual report filing service, ein without an ssn, support hours.
The questions worth putting to doola before you buy are what the agent costs on its own in year two, whether same-day scanning covers ordinary mail, and which states it covers as agent.
Can you use doola if you live outside the U.S.?
Yes. doola's site says "Whether you’re a US citizen or a non-resident without a US SSN, doola can help," and Starter includes bank account help, listed as "Guidance to open US Bank Account."7, 8
doola doesn't publish whether its EIN service handles applicants without a Social Security number or ITIN in a separate way, or what it costs. Non-U.S. residents should also note the longer document timeline above. Our list of agents compared for non-resident founders shows which providers state these services on their own pages.
| Accepts non-US founders | Yes |
|---|---|
| EIN without an SSN | Not published |
| U.S. bank account help | Yes, guidance in Starter |
How do you reach doola?
doola's help center says "The best way to contact doola customer support is to create a ticket." It also mentions a chat widget and general email at hello@doola.com, and lists no phone line.9
doola doesn't publish support hours. For cancelling, the address named in the terms is help@doola.com, which is a different inbox from general support.3

Who do doola's published terms suit?
doola's terms fit a founder who wants formation and the first year of running a company handled in one annual plan. Each point below comes from a published fact, and the lists linked here are ordered by their stated rules.
These founders match doola's published terms.
- First-time founders. doola includes two of the three supports in a plan. Annual report filing comes with Tax and Compliance, and AI guidance comes with every plan; doola says "AI Co-Founder provides general information and guidance based on doola’s internal knowledge base," and Starter gets AI Co-Founder with 25 credits. doola publishes no business coaching from a person. See registered agents for first-time founders.10
- Owners who want the annual report filed. Because filing is included in a plan rather than sold separately, doola sits in the first group of the compliance list. The catch is that filing starts at the Tax and Compliance price.
- Founders outside the U.S. doola's own pages say it serves non-residents without a U.S. SSN and include bank account guidance in Starter, which puts it on the non-resident list.
- Owners who want a business address with the agent. Starter includes a U.S. business address, the deciding fact for the privacy list.
- You want same-day scans in a dashboard.
These owners should look more closely first.
- One provider for everything. doola sells 5 of the 10 business service types we track, with an online dashboard, which places it mid-table on the all-in-one list. It publishes no website tools, legal document library or standalone annual report service.
- Lowest cost. At $297 per year with no published renewal, doola sits low on the lowest-cost list.
- You need an agent for an LLC you already formed elsewhere, since doola doesn't say whether an agent-only order exists apart from Starter.
- You want to cancel just the agent through a written, agent-specific process, which doola doesn't publish.
Which providers make a different trade-off?
Each of these three differs from doola on a specific published point. Prices are from each provider's own pages.
Northwest Registered Agent: if you want a lower agent price and a cancellation rule written for the agent. Northwest lists its agent at $125 per year. Its terms say "You may terminate or cancel your Service anytime by logging onto your account" and "There are no fees to cancel." It scans ordinary business mail, up to 5 docs per year, and files annual reports for $100 plus state fees. For non-residents it lists a foreign EIN service at $200, a price doola doesn't publish. See the Northwest review.11, 12, 13, 14
ZenBusiness: if you want annual report filing in a cheaper plan. ZenBusiness lists its Pro plan as $199 + state fees, renews at $199/yr, and Pro covers state-required annual report filings and up to 2 amendments per year. Its agent is $199/year with a published renewal of $199/yr, and ZenBusiness offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC, where doola includes the agent in every plan. Cancelling works differently too. ZenBusiness's agent terms say you cancel by contacting our Customer Support Team by phone. See the ZenBusiness review.15, 16, 17, 18
InCorp Services: if you only need an agent for an existing company. InCorp lists a standalone agent at $129/year, described as "a flat $129 per year that has increased exactly once since 1998," though its terms bill at the "then current" fee. It states "Legal documents scanned and delivered to you the same day they arrive" and sells annual report filing on its own at $89 + state fees. See the InCorp review.5, 19, 20
How the scores behind every list are built is set out in how we score. All providers are side by side on the comparison table.
doola registered agent FAQ
Is doola's registered agent free?
It is free with doola's formation service, and every formation plan includes it. doola gives no length for the free period. Its plans are billed per year and each lists the agent, though doola doesn't publish whether the agent stays included at each renewal.
Can I buy doola's registered agent without forming my LLC with doola?
doola lists an agent price of $297 per year, which matches its Starter plan price. Its pages are silent on whether an agent-only order exists apart from Starter, or what it would include. If you already have an LLC, ask doola first.1
Does doola file my annual report?
Only on the higher plans. doola's help article says the Tax and Compliance plan covers your annual state compliance filings (like annual reports), and Starter does not include it. Starter does include annual report notifications through the agent service.6
How do I cancel doola's registered agent service?
doola's terms let you delete your account at any time or email help@doola.com. File a change of agent with your state first, so your LLC is never left without one. Our guide to cancelling a registered agent has the steps.3
Does doola forward physical mail?
Not as part of the base agent subscription unless your plan says so. doola's terms say forwarding is available for an additional fee, and the fee isn't published. Scanned copies appear in your dashboard.3
Can I get a refund from doola?
doola's terms allow a possible refund if you cancel an application before doola sends it to a state or government agency. The same terms say payments are nonrefundable and that doola may deny refunds at its discretion. doola publishes no refund rule written specifically for plan renewals.
What is doola's Trustpilot rating?
doola's Trustpilot profile shows 4.5 (2,082 reviews). The company says it was started in 2020. Ratings reflect customer experiences, not the terms above, so read both. Our reviews hub links every provider review, and the glossary defines the filing terms used here.21, 22
