Best registered agent services in Connecticut
Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.
The 10 services compared here all sell registered agent service, and all but two say on their own pages that they cover Connecticut or every state. Under Conn. Gen. Stat. § 34-243n, the agent "shall have a place of business in this state", so a national service has to give a Connecticut address for your filing. Each LLC also owes a yearly report. It costs $80, is filed from January 1 to March 31 each year, and starts the year after formation. That makes a provider's renewal price, its annual report help and its exit terms the three things worth comparing.1, 2, 3
How is this list ordered, and what did we compare?
Providers are ordered by our score, highest first, with tied scores placed in editorial order, and each is described by the same set of published facts on price, renewal, document handling, cancellation and refunds.
Our score uses only cited facts. Customer satisfaction, the range of services and dashboard features, and value and cost each feed into it, and how we score shows the method and every provider's breakdown. Nobody bought or tested these services for this page. The Trustpilot rating in the table is a separate third-party figure, linked to its source and left unadjusted.

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.
For every provider we looked for the agent price, the renewal price, how legal papers reach you, any annual report service and what it costs, the auto-renewal and cancellation terms, and the refund window. Each fact comes from the provider's own site or terms, or is marked as supplied by the provider. Where a provider is silent on something, the paragraph says it doesn't publish it. Background on the role is in what a registered agent does; this page covers only picking a paid agent for a Connecticut LLC.
How do Connecticut's rules shape the choice of agent?
Three rules do most of the work: where the agent must be, the yearly report that starts in the second calendar year, and the cost of switching agents if a provider's renewal stops making sense.
Who can act as your agent
The statute lists, among others, a "Natural person who is a resident of this state" and a "Corporation formed under the laws of this state" (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 34-243n). National services serve through an entity that qualifies, and every agent "shall have a place of business in this state". The agent's address goes in the agent field of the Certificate of Organization, whichever service you pick; that is true of all agents, so treat claims about "privacy" with care. Other addresses the filing asks for stay your own choice. The Connecticut registered agent guide has the full list of who may serve and the address rules.1
The annual report gives compliance features real work
Connecticut's annual report costs $80 and is filed online from January 1 to March 31 each year. The state notes that the first report is due the year after formation. Several providers below sell a service that files it for you, at prices ranging from a per-filing charge to a yearly subscription, and most of them list the state fee as extra. If you would rather file it yourself, a reminder feature may be all you need. The deadlines, penalties and what the report asks for are on staying compliant in Connecticut.2, 3
The state fee for a change of agent
A Change of Agent filing costs $50, and the state lists an agent's own resignation at the same fee with no form available. Add that to any notice period or closed refund window before you decide a cheap first year is the better deal. If an LLC goes without an agent, the Secretary of the State may dissolve the LLC by forfeiture after a 3-month notice window. How to change a registered agent lists the steps in order.3, 4
How do the registered agent services compare for Connecticut?
Each provider has its own heading below, in the order of the table above, with its published price, renewal, document handling, report help and exit terms.
Tailor Brands
Tailor Brands prices its agent at $199/year, and lists the renewal as $199/year (renews at the same price); both figures were supplied by the provider rather than published on a page. It says it covers all 50 states and lists documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard. Its terms say the agent address cannot be used as the business location in public materials, so the Connecticut agent address isn't one to print on your website or invoices. The Essential formation plan, $199/yr plus state fees, adds annual compliance (report filing and updates), which in Connecticut covers a real yearly filing. Its terms set auto-renewal on by default for subscription services, and they mention a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. Read the Tailor Brands review.5, 6, 7, 8, 9
ZenBusiness
ZenBusiness lists $199/year, renewing at $199/yr, with 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. For the Connecticut report it sells Annual Report Filing $100 per report or a yearly Worry-Free Compliance $199/year plan; its listing doesn't say whether the state's $80 is included. Cancelling is done by contacting customer support by phone. Its terms allow a refund request only if the service has not yet been used. See the ZenBusiness review.10, 11, 12
LegalZoom
LegalZoom charges $249/year (first-time registered agent customers), and the service renews at the purchase rate each year; rate subject to change. Its one-time annual report filing is listed as $99 + state filing fees, bills once. Because it is a single filing, a Connecticut owner who wants every year's report handled buys it again each year. You can cancel by phone or online via My Account, and proof of new RA may be required, so have the Connecticut Change of Agent accepted before you call. LegalZoom doesn't publish its state coverage on the pages we checked. The LegalZoom review has the rest.13, 14, 15
Bizee
Bizee lists $149/year and offers a free first year with any Bizee formation package, after which the agent renews at $149/year (ongoing annual fee). Service of process is mailed via FedEx with tracking. Bizee says it covers all 50 states, and it files annual reports, with no standalone price stated for that service, so ask for the Connecticut price before relying on it. Its cancellation route is assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change. More in the Bizee review.16, 17, 18, 19, 20
Swyft Filings
Swyft Filings bills its agent at $149 per quarter ($596/year), so its yearly total is the figure to compare with the others. It says it operates in all 50 states and gives this timing for lawsuit papers: legal SOP typically available within 2-3 hours. Its report service, ComplianceGuard $199/year, starts with a 14-day free trial then auto-charged; since a Connecticut LLC has no report due in its first calendar year, a trial taken at formation may lapse into a paid year before there is anything to file. A replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. See the Swyft Filings review.21, 22, 23
doola
doola's agent page lists $297 per year, the same figure as its Starter formation plan, and the agent is free with Formation Service. It offers same-day scans, while physical mail forwarding is not included in your base registered agent subscription. Annual report filing sits in its Tax and Compliance plan at $1,999/yr; doola's pricing notes that Starter does not include ongoing compliance filings. doola doesn't publish its state coverage on the pages we checked. See the doola review.24, 25, 26, 27
Northwest Registered Agent
Northwest charges $125 per year and has offices in every state plus D.C. and Puerto Rico. Legal documents go to your online account, with normal business mail scanned up to 5 docs per year free. Northwest says agent customers will "automatically be enrolled in our renewal service", a report service priced at $100 + state fees, charged at filing; in Connecticut that charge would come round each filing season, so ask Northwest how to switch it off if you file yourself. You can cancel anytime through the online account; no cancellation fee, and purchases are non-refundable after 90 days. Details are in the Northwest review.28, 29, 30, 31, 32
Rocket Lawyer
Rocket Lawyer's agent costs $125 with a Plus or Pro membership, and those memberships are billed separately: Plus at $249/year, Pro at $349/year. Report filing is $100 with Pro membership, so a Connecticut owner who wants both pays for Pro on top of the agent. You can cancel any time by phone, before renewal date, and refunds must be asked for within 30 days of purchase. Read the Rocket Lawyer review.33, 34, 35, 36
InCorp Services
InCorp lists $129/year, described as a $129 per year flat rate, though its terms say service continues and is billed at then-current fee unless a cancellation condition is met. Legal documents are scanned and delivered same day. Its annual report service is $89 + state fees. To stop paying, you must meet one of its conditions (dissolve entity, appoint new agent, or resign InCorp with fees) before the yearly fee falls due, and refunds are possible within 60 days of issuance of services. See the InCorp review.37, 38, 39, 40
Harbor Compliance
Harbor Compliance charges $99 first year (new customers), then $159 annually. Its managed report service is $199 per state per year plus filing fees, the same yearly figure as the ZenBusiness and Swyft subscriptions, against a Connecticut state fee of $80. Non-renewal notice is due at least 90 days before the end of the current term, and its terms state that all Fees paid for the Services are non-refundable. Compare the Harbor Compliance review.41, 42, 43
What does a registered agent cost in Connecticut in year one and after?
In the first year you pay the $120 Certificate of Organization fee plus the agent's first-year price; from the second calendar year you add the $80 annual report to the agent's renewal.2, 3
The state's formation fee is $120, and the fee schedule describes it as including appointment of statutory agent, so naming your agent costs nothing extra at formation. Because the first report is due the year after formation, the formation year has no report fee.3

Some providers' prices change after year one or depend on another purchase.
- Harbor Compliance starts at $99 first year (new customers) and then renews at $159 annually.41
- Bizee's agent is free for the first year with formation, then $149/year (ongoing annual fee).18
- ZenBusiness halves the first year when you form with it, then charges $199/yr.11
- Swyft Filings bills every quarter, which adds up over a year.
- Rocket Lawyer's agent price assumes a paid Plus or Pro membership.
From the second year, a fair yearly figure is the renewal price plus $80, plus a report-filing fee if you use one. An owner who stops paying an agent and lets the LLC lapse faces reinstatement at $120, and the state's online route for that says the Business Agent must be a Connecticut resident, a point to raise with the state if your agent is a company. The arithmetic for the whole LLC is on the cheapest ways to form a Connecticut LLC, and formation packages are on Connecticut LLC formation services compared. Agent-only prices nationwide are on cheapest registered agent services, and our comparison tool puts two providers side by side.44
Connecticut registered agent services: common questions
Do I need an agent service that files the Connecticut annual report?
No, the report can be filed online by the owner for $80 from January 1 to March 31 each year. A filing service saves the task but adds its own fee. LegalZoom lists $99 + state filing fees, bills once; InCorp lists $89 + state fees. Reminders alone may be enough if you are comfortable filing; see agents with compliance tools.2, 3, 14, 40
What does it cost to switch registered agents in Connecticut?
The state charges $50 for the Change of Agent filing. The old provider's terms can cost more than that: Harbor Compliance wants non-renewal notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, and Swyft Filings says a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. File the change first, then cancel; how to cancel a registered agent covers the order.3, 23, 43
Can a Connecticut resident skip the service and act as agent?
Yes, the statute allows a "Natural person who is a resident of this state" (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 34-243n). The trade-off is that your address goes in the agent field of the public filing, and someone has to be there to accept papers. The Connecticut registered agent guide covers what serving yourself involves.1
Can I use the agent's address as my Connecticut business address?
That depends on the provider's terms. Tailor Brands' terms say the agent address cannot be used as the business location in public materials. Some providers sell a separate address product, such as Northwest's Mail Forwarding $20/month (24 select states) (check that Connecticut is covered) or Harbor Compliance's virtual address at $350/year per company, per location (limited time offer); whether one can go in another field of your filing is a question for the Secretary of the State. What an agent keeps off the record explains what stays public.7, 45, 46
What happens if my Connecticut LLC is left without an agent?
The Secretary of the State may dissolve the LLC by forfeiture after a 3-month notice window. Reinstatement costs $120, and the state's online route says the Business Agent must be a Connecticut resident. Keeping a paid service until the new agent is on file avoids that gap.4, 44
How is the provider list on this page ordered?
By our score, highest first, with ties in editorial order; how we score shows the inputs. Trustpilot ratings cover each company as a whole rather than its Connecticut service, so read the prices and terms above for your own LLC. Founders based abroad can also check agents for non-resident founders.
