Best registered agent services in Delaware

Facts checked October 13 to 14, 2026.

All 10 providers on this page sell registered agent service, and most state that they cover every state. Delaware's statute, 6 Del. C. § 18-104, requires a registered office in the state and an agent having a business office identical with such registered office, so an owner who lives outside Delaware usually needs a commercial agent with a Delaware office. Two Delaware rules shape the choice more than the entry price. If an agent resigns and the LLC does not designate a new agent within 30 days of the agent's resignation, its certificate of formation is canceled. And instead of an annual report, every Delaware LLC owes a yearly tax of $400, due on or before June 1, while most providers describe their reminders in terms of annual reports.1, 2

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.

For every provider we looked at the same set of published facts. These are the yearly agent price, the renewal price, how legal papers reach you, auto-renewal, how to cancel and the refund terms. Each comes from the provider's own pages or terms, or is marked as supplied by the provider, and appears in the Sources list. We don't buy or test these services. Trustpilot ratings sit in the table as a separate third-party number; they rate each company overall, not its Delaware office. If you are new to the role itself, what a registered agent does covers the basics, and this page stays on picking a paid one for Delaware.

Which Delaware rules should shape your choice of agent?

Three do. The agent's office must be the LLC's Delaware registered office, a resigning agent starts a short clock to replace it, and the yearly tax replaces the annual report that most compliance features are built around.

The office has to be in Delaware

Under the statute, the LLC keeps a registered office in Delaware, which may but need not be a place of its business in the State of Delaware. The list of who may act as agent includes the LLC itself and an individual resident in Delaware, alongside business entities. In practice, a founder in another state can't act as the agent personally, and the LLC can only be its own agent if it has an office in Delaware to name. A national provider fills that gap with its Delaware address, which goes in the agent field of the filing. That is the same for every provider on this list, so it isn't a reason to pick one over another. Who may serve, and how the agent is named, are on the Delaware registered agent guide.1

A resignation starts a short clock

A Delaware agent that resigns without naming a successor must give the LLC at least 30 days' written notice, and the resignation takes effect 30 days after the certificate is filed. From there, if the LLC does not designate a new agent within 30 days of the agent's resignation, its certificate of formation is canceled. Delaware calls reinstatement revival; the state fee to revive a domestic LLC is $220, and any unpaid annual taxes and penalties are not included in this figure. Keep your contact email current with whichever service you pick, so a resignation notice reaches you.1, 3

The yearly tax, and what reminders cover

Delaware's tax instructions say: "There is no requirement to file an Annual Report." LLCs pay a flat tax of $400 instead, due on or before June 1, and a late payment adds a $200 penalty plus 1.5% interest per month. Most providers describe their reminders in terms of annual reports. Two mention tax deadlines: LegalZoom says agent customers get reminders when tax and annual report deadlines are approaching, and InCorp's reminder feature is quoted below. Neither names the Delaware LLC tax. If you rely on a service's reminders, ask whether they cover the Delaware LLC tax. The full calendar is on staying compliant in Delaware.2, 4, 5

How do the registered agent services compare for a Delaware LLC?

The paragraphs follow the table's order, and each covers price, renewal, document handling, exit terms and how the provider's published features line up with Delaware's rules.

Tailor Brands

Tailor Brands prices its agent at $199/year and gives the renewal as $199/year (renews at the same price); the provider supplied both figures. It lists documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard and says it covers all 50 states. Its agent terms state "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials," and it sells a separate Virtual Address product, price not published. Its terms describe auto-renewal on by default for subscription services. You cancel by notifying Tailor Brands and completing the required steps. Its fees are non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law, with a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. Its explanatory copy says the agent sends reminders and, if instructed, they can even file your annual report. Delaware LLCs have no annual report, so that part has nothing to file, and the copy doesn't mention the yearly tax. Its plans are laid out in our Tailor Brands write-up.6, 7, 8, 9

ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness lists $199/year with renewal at $199/yr; it also offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. Copies go to its dashboard, with originals forwarded only if they can't be copied. Its terms add that "ZenBusiness may increase its fees for RA Services effective the first day of a RA Service Term," so the renewal figure can move. Cancelling means contacting customer support by phone. A refund is available only if the service has not yet been used. The ZenBusiness review covers its packages.10, 11, 12

LegalZoom

LegalZoom charges $249/year (first-time registered agent customers). Renewal is at the purchase rate, and "The renewal rate is subject to change." It offers email reminders about annual report deadlines through the Compliance Calendar, which a Delaware LLC can't use for a report it doesn't file. Its overview also mentions reminders when tax and annual report deadlines are approaching, without naming Delaware's LLC tax. Its terms bar one use of the agent's address: "You may not list the Registered Address in your company's public media." On cancelling, proof of new RA may be required, so file the Delaware change first. The pages we checked don't state its coverage. LegalZoom's full terms are in our write-up.5, 13

Bizee

Bizee sells the agent alone for $149/year, renewing at $149/year (ongoing annual fee), and includes a free first year with any Bizee formation package. Service of process is mailed via FedEx with tracking. It advertises free lifetime compliance notifications without saying which Delaware dates they track. Its cancellation policy says renewal is charged by Bizee's registered agent partner, while its agent page says it doesn't outsource. Leaving means assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change, so in Delaware the amendment goes to the Division of Corporations before Bizee hears from you. Our Bizee write-up covers its packages.14, 15, 16

Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings bills $149 per quarter, which works out to $596/year, the highest yearly agent figure on this page. Its FAQ also says the service renews annually, so check the billing schedule at checkout. Papers are uploaded to your account, and for service of process (SOP, the formal delivery of a lawsuit) its page promises legal SOP typically available within 2-3 hours. Swyft says the registered agent must be changed, or the business must be voluntarily dissolved before the service can be cancelled. Refunds are judged case by case, by charge type and order status. Swyft Filings in detail has the billing terms.17, 18, 19

doola

doola's agent page quotes $297 per year, the same figure as its Starter formation plan, and the page doesn't say whether that buys the agent alone. The agent is free with Formation Service, though doola doesn't say for how long. It offers same-day scans, but "Physical mail forwarding is not included in your base registered agent subscription." Its general terms say "Any recurring fees will automatically renew at the rates then in effect." doola lists timely notifications for annual reports; for a Delaware LLC the deadline that counts is the tax. Coverage isn't stated on the pages we checked. Plans and limits are in our doola write-up.20, 21

Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest charges $125 per year and says it has offices in every state plus D.C. and Puerto Rico. Besides legal papers, it scans ordinary business mail up to 5 docs per year, and its storage terms allow a fee for legal documents above the current 15 per year limit. Agent customers are automatically enrolled in Compliance Services, which its pages describe as annual report filing. Ask what that service would do for a Delaware LLC, which files no report, before the first charge. There are no fees to cancel, and purchases are non-refundable after 90 days. Northwest's fee list is in our write-up.22, 23, 24, 25

Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer's agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership. Those memberships are billed yearly on top: Plus at $249/year, Pro at $349/year. The agent will automatically renew for successive 1-year terms. Its terms add that you must file change-of-agent paperwork with the state when you cancel. Refund requests have to come within 30 days of purchase. Membership tiers are explained in our Rocket Lawyer write-up.26, 27, 28

InCorp Services

InCorp lists $129/year and covers all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Legal documents are scanned and delivered to you the same day they arrive. Its reminder feature reads "Annual report and franchise tax deadlines tracked per entity, with email reminders before anything comes due," without saying whether that includes the Delaware LLC tax by name. Its terms let it bill the then current registered agent service fee and say "You will satisfy at least one of the following cancellation conditions" to stop service. Refunds must be requested within 60 days of issuance of services. InCorp's cancellation conditions are listed in our write-up.29, 30, 31

Harbor Compliance

Harbor Compliance's agent is $99 first year (new customers) and renews at $159 annually. It lists annual report filing reminders, built around the report Delaware LLCs don't file. Its terms renew for another year unless you give notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, and all Fees paid for the Services are non-refundable. Its notice terms are covered in our Harbor Compliance write-up.32, 33

What does a registered agent cost a Delaware LLC in year one and after?

Year one is the $110 Certificate of Formation fee plus the agent's first-year price. From the second year, the bill is the agent's renewal plus the state's LLC tax of $400, paid whichever agent you use.2, 3

The tax is the same for every LLC, so the agent's renewal is the part you can shop on. A few providers price the second year differently from the first.

  1. Harbor Compliance's agent is $99 first year (new customers), then $159 annually.32
  2. ZenBusiness discounts year one only when you form with it.
  3. Bizee and doola include the agent with formation; Bizee then renews at $149/year (ongoing annual fee), and doola doesn't say for how long its inclusion runs.15
  4. Rocket Lawyer's agent price assumes a Plus or Pro membership, which is a yearly charge of its own.

Switching later costs $50 on the Certificate of Amendment Changing Only the Registered Office or Registered Agent of a Limited Liability Company. Paying the tax late adds a $200 penalty plus 1.5% interest per month, which can cost more than a year of most agents. Delaware registered agent services: common questions

Can I be my own registered agent for a Delaware LLC if I live in another state?

Not as an individual. The statute allows an individual resident in Delaware, and it also allows the LLC itself, but the agent needs a business office at the LLC's registered office in Delaware. Without a Delaware office, owners elsewhere usually hire a commercial agent. The Delaware registered agent guide has the full list.1

What happens if my Delaware registered agent resigns?

The agent must give at least 30 days' written notice, and the resignation takes effect 30 days after the certificate is filed. If the LLC does not designate a new agent within 30 days of the agent's resignation, its certificate of formation is canceled. Filing the change of agent promptly avoids that. Revival afterwards costs $220 in state fees, and any unpaid annual taxes and penalties are not included in this figure.1, 3

Does a registered agent pay the Delaware LLC tax for me?

None of the provider facts on this page say the agent service pays it. The yearly tax of $400 is due on or before June 1, whoever your agent is. Some services send deadline reminders: InCorp's describes "Annual report and franchise tax deadlines tracked per entity, with email reminders before anything comes due," and LegalZoom mentions reminders when tax and annual report deadlines are approaching. Ask a provider whether its reminders cover the Delaware LLC tax specifically.2, 30

How much does it cost to switch registered agents in Delaware?

The Division of Corporations charges $50 for the change-of-agent amendment. The old provider's terms can cost more than that, such as Harbor Compliance's rule that non-renewal notice comes at least 90 days before the end of the current term. Several providers want the new agent on file before they stop service; Swyft Filings says the registered agent must be changed, or the business must be voluntarily dissolved before the service can be cancelled. So file the change first; see how to change a registered agent.3, 18, 33

Can I use my agent's Delaware address as my business address?

Check the provider's terms first. Tailor Brands' terms say "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials," and LegalZoom's say "You may not list the Registered Address in your company's public media." The agent's address fills the agent field of your filing, which is true of any agent; our privacy guide covers what else stays on the record.5, 8

Why is Swyft Filings' price so much higher than the others?

Swyft bills $149 per quarter, so its yearly figure is $596/year. The other providers on this page quote a yearly price. Compare yearly totals, and see agents with compliance tools if reminders are what you want from the service.17
