Best registered agent services in Louisiana

Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.

All 10 services compared below sell registered agent service, and most of them say they cover every state; the two whose pages don't say are noted below. Louisiana's statute, La. R.S. 12:1308, lets an LLC name a Louisiana resident or an eligible business as its agent and also requires a registered office in Louisiana (La. R.S. 12:1308(A)(1)), so a commercial service supplies the in-state office as well as the agent's name. The step people don't expect is paperwork: the initial report filed at formation lists each registered agent (with notarized acceptance), and a later switch is filed with a notarized acceptance by the new agent. Since every Louisiana LLC also files an annual report ($35), compare what each service charges to handle that report alongside its agent price and renewal.1, 2, 3

How is this list ordered, and what did we compare?

The list follows our score, highest first, with tied scores in editorial order, and every provider is compared on the same published facts about price, renewal, document delivery, annual report help, cancellation and refunds.

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.

Our score combines three cited inputs: the provider's Trustpilot rating, the breadth of its services and dashboard, and value, meaning the cost of formation plus the agent over the first years and what the comparable package includes. The method, with each provider's breakdown, is on how we score. A tie in score says nothing about which provider is better; the order inside a tie is ours. Trustpilot's numbers appear as Trustpilot publishes them, and we don't buy or test any service.

Every fact below comes from the provider's own pages or terms, or is marked as supplied by the provider, and is listed under Sources. Where a provider is silent on a point, the paragraph says the provider doesn't publish it. The agent's general duties are explained in what a registered agent does; this page sticks to picking a paid one for a Louisiana LLC.

Which Louisiana rules change how you choose an agent service?

Four rules shape the choice: a Louisiana office with a real street address, a notarized acceptance from the agent, a yearly report, and a change process that needs a notary.

Who qualifies, and where the office must be

Louisiana accepts a citizen of the state who resides in this state, or a business entity on the statute's list, which includes a domestic corporation, domestic limited liability company (La. R.S. 12:1308). The registered office is a separate requirement in the statute, and the annual report must give its municipal address, not a P.O. box only. Every service on this page fills that office field with its own Louisiana address; that is how all commercial agents work, so it isn't a privacy feature unique to one provider. The Louisiana registered agent guide covers who may serve and the address rules in full.1, 4

A notarized acceptance from your agent

The initial report filed with the Articles lists each registered agent (with notarized acceptance). If the LLC changes agents later, the statement must be filed with a notarized acceptance by the new agent. That means the service you hire has to sign an acceptance in front of a notary, or hand you one it has already signed. None of the provider facts we cite explains how a service supplies this document for Louisiana, so ask before you order, especially if you are filing the Articles yourself and only buying the agent.1, 2

A yearly report that names the agent

Each LLC files an annual report on or before the anniversary date of organization, and the report lists the name and address of each registered agent. The statute sets no late fee for a missed report; the risk instead is that articles are revoked after three consecutive years without an annual report. Because there is a real filing every year, a service's reminders or report-filing option has work to do in Louisiana, and the price of that option varies widely, as the paragraphs below show. The report itself is explained on staying compliant in Louisiana.4, 5

A later change of agent

The Secretary of State charges $30 to file the change, and the statement goes in with a notarized acceptance by the new agent. So the cost of switching is the state fee, a notary visit and whatever the old provider's terms charge in notice or lost refunds. If your agent resigns instead, the resignation takes effect only through written notice to the LLC and the secretary of state, and a successor agent must be appointed within 30 days. Step-by-step help is in how to change a registered agent.1, 3

How do the registered agent services compare for a Louisiana LLC?

Each provider below appears in the same order as the table, with its own published terms and a note on how they meet Louisiana's report and acceptance rules.

Tailor Brands

Tailor Brands supplied its agent price, $199/year, and its renewal, $199/year (renews at the same price). It says it serves all 50 states and lists documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard. For the Louisiana annual report, its agent page says the agent can file the annual report if instructed, and the Essential formation plan ($199/yr plus state fees) includes annual compliance (report filing and updates). Its terms carry one limit on the address: "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials." It sells a separate Virtual Address product, described as a professional business address, without a published price. The terms describe auto-renewal on by default for subscription services; to stop it, you cancel by notifying Tailor Brands and completing the required steps. Fees are non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law, and when a refund is issued there is a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. The Tailor Brands review has more.6, 7, 8, 9, 10

ZenBusiness

The ZenBusiness agent costs $199/year and renews at $199/yr; its agent page offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. That page mentions state compliance notices and annual report reminders in its description of the agent's role. Its terms say copies are sent, with originals forwarded only if they can't be copied, which is worth knowing if you would rather keep paper originals of anything served on the LLC. For the yearly report, ZenBusiness sells a one-off filing (Annual Report Filing $100 per report) or a subscription (Worry-Free Compliance $199/year). The agent renews automatically. Cancellation happens by contacting customer support by phone, and a refund is possible only if the service has not yet been used. Read the ZenBusiness review for its formation plans.11, 12, 13

LegalZoom

LegalZoom charges $249/year (first-time registered agent customers) for the agent. The service renews at the purchase rate each year, with the rate subject to change. Legal papers are scanned and uploaded, and for everything else its page lists other mail uploaded to account and emailed. It sends email reminders about annual report deadlines via Compliance Calendar, and sells a one-time report filing ($99 + state filing fees, bills once). Its agent terms say: "You may not list the Registered Address in your company's public media." You can cancel by phone or online via My Account, though proof of new RA may be required, which in Louisiana means the notarized change is on file first. Its terms describe prepaid fees as refunded only when LegalZoom terminates the service. LegalZoom's pages we checked don't state its state coverage. See the LegalZoom review.14, 15, 16

Bizee

Bizee sells the agent alone at $149/year, renewing at $149/year (ongoing annual fee), and its formation customers get one year of Registered Agent Service for free. Its coverage is stated as all 50 states. Lawsuit papers are mailed via FedEx with tracking, and it lists free lifetime compliance notifications. Bizee offers annual report filing but has no standalone price stated, so ask for the price before you count on it for the Louisiana report. Services may automatically renew. Cancelling means assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change. Its general terms say orders are generally refundable until payment is forwarded to a government entity; it publishes no refund term specific to the agent. The Bizee review covers its packages.17, 18, 19, 20, 21

Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings lists $149 per quarter ($596/year), billed by the quarter, which makes it the largest yearly agent charge in this list. It says it operates in all 50 states, with legal SOP typically within 2-3 hours. Its FAQ also says the service renews annually with reminders before renewal, which doesn't fit quarterly billing; confirm the schedule at checkout. For the yearly report it sells ComplianceGuard $199/year, starting with a 14-day free trial then auto-charged, so diary the trial's end. To cancel, a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. Refunds are handled case by case, with no published time window. Our Swyft Filings review goes further.22, 23, 24, 25, 26

doola

doola's agent page shows $297 per year, matching its Starter formation plan ($297/yr), and the page doesn't say plainly whether that price buys the agent by itself. doola says the agent is free with its formation service (RA free with Formation Service) and offers same-day scans. Its terms say physical mail forwarding is not included in your base registered agent subscription unless otherwise stated in your plan. The agent service sends annual report notifications, but Starter does not include ongoing compliance filings, so filing the Louisiana report for you sits in a higher plan. Its terms say recurring fees auto-renew. The only published refund term concerns filings: possible if application cancelled before it is sent to the state. doola doesn't state its state coverage on the pages we checked. More in the doola review.27, 28, 29, 30

Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest charges $125 per year and says it has offices in every state plus D.C. and Puerto Rico. Legal papers go into your online account, and it lists normal business mail scanned up to 5 docs per year free. Its annual report service costs $100 + state fees, charged at filing, and Northwest says registered agent customers are auto-enrolled in it, so check your account settings if you plan to file the Louisiana report yourself. It also sells Mail Forwarding $20/month (24 select states). You can cancel anytime through the online account; no cancellation fee. Purchases are non-refundable after 90 days. Northwest's pages don't say whether the agent service itself renews automatically. See the Northwest review.31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36

Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer's agent price is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership, which means paying for a membership too: Plus at $249/year or Pro at $349/year. It states coverage of all 50 states, and its page says it will forward all state legal documents directly to you. Report filing is $100 with Pro membership, excluding state fees, so a Plus member who wants the report filed would need to move up. The agent renews for successive 1-year terms. You can cancel any time by phone, before renewal date, and refund requests must come within 30 days of purchase. Read the Rocket Lawyer review.37, 38, 39, 40

InCorp Services

InCorp prices its agent at $129/year and calls it a $129 per year flat rate, while its terms bill renewals at the then-current fee. It lists coverage of all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands. Legal papers are scanned and delivered same day. Its dashboard is the Entity Management System (EMS), included free. Its annual report filing is $89 + state fees, the lowest published report-filing price on this page. Service is billed at then-current fee unless a cancellation condition is met; those conditions are to dissolve entity, appoint new agent, or resign InCorp with fees. Refund requests must arrive within 60 days of issuance of services. See the InCorp review.41, 42, 43, 44

Harbor Compliance

Harbor Compliance charges $99 first year (new customers), then $159 annually. It advertises same-day document scanning, and its agent service includes annual report filing reminders. Having Harbor file the report costs $199 per state per year plus filing fees, several times the state's own fee. Its terms renew the agent unless you give notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, so in Louisiana plan the notarized change well before that date. Its terms also say all Fees paid for the Services are non-refundable. More in the Harbor Compliance review.45, 46, 47

What does a registered agent cost in Louisiana in year one and after?

In year one you pay the state $125 for the Articles plus the agent's first-year price; from year two, the recurring bill is the agent's renewal plus the $35 annual report fee.3

Louisiana raised its business filing fees on October 1, 2026, so guides written before that date show lower figures; the fees table below uses the current amounts. Nor is there a franchise tax to add, since the Department of Revenue says "The franchise tax has been repealed for franchise tax periods beginning on or after January 1, 2026."3, 48

The annual report is where a service can change your yearly cost the most in Louisiana. The state fee is $35, and filing it yourself costs nothing more. Having a provider do it adds that provider's charge on top, which ranges widely among those that publish one.3

First-year discounts close the gap at the start and then fall away. ZenBusiness offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC, Harbor Compliance starts at $99 first year (new customers) before renewing at $159 annually, and Bizee's formation customers get one year of Registered Agent Service for free. If you expect to keep the LLC going, the renewal column and the report-filing price tell you more than the opening offer. Louisiana registered agent services: common questions

Does a Louisiana registered agent have to sign anything notarized?

Yes. The initial report filed with the Articles lists each registered agent (with notarized acceptance), and a later change of agent requires a notarized affidavit of acknowledgment and acceptance signed by the new registered agent. When a commercial service is your agent, that service provides the signed acceptance. Ask the provider how it delivers the document before you file.1, 2

How much does it cost to switch registered agent services in Louisiana?

The Secretary of State charges $30 for the statement of change, which is filed with a notarized acceptance by the new agent. The old provider's terms can cost more than the filing, for example Harbor Compliance's rule that notice must arrive at least 90 days before the end of the current term. File the change before you cancel: Bizee's cancellation means assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change, and Swyft Filings says a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation.1, 3, 21, 25, 47

Is a service's annual report filing worth paying for in Louisiana?

It comes down to whether you want someone else tracking and filing it. The report is due on or before the anniversary date of organization and the state fee is $35; providers that publish a filing price charge from $89 + state fees upward on top. The statute sets no late fee, but articles are revoked after three consecutive years without an annual report. See annual reports explained.3, 4, 5, 43

What happens if my registered agent resigns in Louisiana?

The resignation takes effect only through written notice to the LLC and the secretary of state, and the law says a successor agent must be appointed within 30 days. The replacement is named by a statement filed with a notarized acceptance by the new agent, so start early. The Louisiana registered agent guide walks through the steps, and how to cancel a registered agent covers ending a service on your side.1

Can I use the agent's address as my Louisiana business address?

It depends on the provider's terms. Tailor Brands' terms say "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials," and LegalZoom's terms say "You may not list the Registered Address in your company's public media." The agent's address fills the registered office field for every provider; your other addresses are a separate question. Some providers sell a business address product, such as Bizee's at $29/month. Our page on registered agents and privacy explains what stays public.9, 14, 49

Why is the list in this order?

It follows our score, highest first, with ties in editorial order. Our score is built only from published, cited facts, and the largest share comes from each provider's Trustpilot rating, which reflects the company as a whole rather than its Louisiana service. The method is on how we score; providers with report-filing options are grouped on agents with compliance tools.
