Best resident agent services in Kansas
Facts checked October 13 to 14, 2026.
All 10 providers compared here sell registered agent service, which Kansas law and the Secretary of State's forms call a resident agent. Under K.S.A. 17-7925, the agent can be the LLC itself, an individual resident in this state, or a qualifying business entity, and the registered office has to be an address in Kansas where the resident agent may be regularly present. Online Kansas filings are processed within minutes and the state's recurring report is filed biennially, so the differences between services are what they charge to renew, how quickly legal papers reach you, and whether their compliance features line up with a report that isn't yearly.1, 2, 3, 4
Kansas law uses the term resident agent. Most states call the same role a registered agent. What the term means in Kansas
How is this list ordered, and what did we compare?
Providers are listed by our score, highest first, with tied scores in editorial order, and every provider was compared on the same published facts: price, renewal, document handling, cancellation and refunds.
Our score uses only cited, published facts covering customer satisfaction, breadth of service and dashboard, and value and cost. The method and each provider's breakdown sit on how we score. We compare published terms; we don't buy or test the services. The Trustpilot rating beside each score is a separate, third-party number, cited to Trustpilot and left unadjusted.

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.
For each provider we looked for the agent price, the renewal price, how legal papers are delivered, whether a separate business address is sold, how auto-renewal and cancellation work, and the refund terms. Every fact comes from the provider's own pages or terms, or is marked as supplied by the provider, and each is listed under Sources. Where a provider is silent on a point, the paragraph says it doesn't publish that fact. If you want the basics of the role first, read what a resident agent does; this page sticks to picking a paid service for a Kansas LLC.
Which Kansas rules change how you compare agent services?
Three do. Kansas lets the LLC act as its own agent, its Information Report falls due every other year rather than every year, and no current official page we checked states its fee for changing agents.
The agent can be the LLC, a resident or a business. K.S.A. 17-7925 opens its list of who may serve with "The covered entity itself," then an individual living in Kansas, then listed business entities. Whoever serves needs a registered office in Kansas, which the formation form describes as an address in Kansas where the resident agent may be regularly present. A commercial service supplies that office from its own Kansas address. Its address goes in the agent field of your Articles, as it would with any agent, and the other addresses on the form stay as you give them. The full rules on who may serve are in the Kansas resident agent guide.1
The recurring report is biennial. Kansas calls it the Information Report, due by April 15 of the even or odd year matching the year the LLC was formed. Many agent services advertise annual report reminders, and some sell report filing by the year. For a Kansas-only LLC, a yearly compliance plan bills you in report years and in the years between them, so check whether a provider charges per filing or per year. The filing itself, its contents and late rules are covered on staying compliant in Kansas.4
The change fee is unconfirmed. You switch agents by filing Form ROA. Kansas amended its filing fee rules in the current year, and no official page we checked states the current fee for this form, so confirm it with the Secretary of State before you file. With that figure uncertain, a provider's notice period or refund window is the part of switching you can plan for in advance. The order of steps is in how to change a resident agent.5
How do the resident agent services compare for Kansas?
Each provider below follows the order of the table above. The paragraphs repeat only what each company publishes.
Tailor Brands
Tailor Brands lists its agent service at $199/year, renewing at $199/year (renews at the same price); both figures are supplied by the provider. Coverage is listed as All 50 states, and it lists documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard. Its agent page also says the agent can file the annual report if instructed, which in Kansas would apply in report years only. One term limits how you use the address: Agent address cannot be used as the business location in public materials. For a public-facing address it lists a separate product: Virtual Address product offered; price not published. Its terms set auto-renewal on by default for subscription services, and fees are non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law, with a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. Read the Tailor Brands review.6, 7, 8, 9
ZenBusiness
ZenBusiness charges $199/year and renews at $199/yr, with 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. Its agent page, describing what an agent does, mentions State compliance notices and annual report reminders. Papers arrive as scans, with originals forwarded only if they can't be copied. Leaving means cancelling by contacting customer support by phone; a refund can be requested only if the service has not yet been used. If you want ZenBusiness to file the Kansas report, its per-filing option (Annual Report Filing $100 per report) is charged by the report, which in Kansas means every other year. See the ZenBusiness review.10, 11, 12
LegalZoom
LegalZoom's agent costs $249/year (first-time registered agent customers), and its renewal term reads: Renews at the purchase rate each year; rate subject to change. It sends Email reminders about annual report deadlines via Compliance Calendar. Legal documents are scanned and uploaded; for everything else it lists other mail uploaded to account and emailed. You cancel by phone or online via My Account, and proof of new RA may be required, so have the Kansas change filed before you call. Its agent terms say prepaid fees for the current term are refunded only when LegalZoom terminates the service. Its one-off annual report service is $99 + state filing fees, bills once, a structure that suits a report due every other year. LegalZoom doesn't publish its state coverage on the pages we checked. More in the LegalZoom review.13, 14, 15
Bizee
Bizee's agent is $149/year on its own, renewing at $149/year (ongoing annual fee), and it offers a Free first year with any Bizee formation package. Its agent service lists Free lifetime compliance notifications. Service of process, the formal delivery of a lawsuit, is mailed via FedEx with tracking. To cancel, Bizee's terms describe assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change, so the Kansas change form goes in first. Bizee publishes no refund terms specific to the agent; its general order terms say orders are generally refundable until payment is forwarded to a government entity. Separately, Bizee sells a virtual address at $29/month; 1 month free with Bizee LLC formation. See the Bizee review.16, 17, 18, 19, 20
Swyft Filings
Swyft Filings prices its agent at $149 per quarter ($596/year), a quarterly charge, with renewal listed as $149 per quarter, auto-renews until cancelled. Its page gives the timing for lawsuit papers as legal SOP typically within 2-3 hours, and it lists Notifications of state correspondence as part of the service. Its FAQ separately says it renews annually with reminders before renewal, which sits oddly beside quarterly billing, so check the schedule at checkout. A replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. Refunds are handled on this basis: Case-by-case by charge type and order status. Its report filing comes through ComplianceGuard $199/year, a yearly charge that would span a Kansas off-year. See the Swyft Filings review.21, 22, 23, 24, 25
doola
doola's agent page lists $297 per year, and doola notes: RA free with Formation Service, with no duration stated. It offers same-day scans and annual report notifications. Its terms say recurring fees auto-renew. Its cancellation term: Delete account any time, or email help@doola.com. doola doesn't publish its state coverage on the pages we checked. See the doola review.26, 27
Northwest Registered Agent
Northwest charges $125 per year and says it has offices in All 50 states plus D.C. and Puerto Rico. Legal documents go to your online account, and it lists normal business mail scanned up to 5 docs per year free. One note on its pages: RA customers auto-enrolled in Compliance Services billed in annual auto-pay. Its report filing is $100 + state fees, charged at filing, so in Kansas that charge would fall in report years. Its cancellation term: Cancel anytime through the online account; no cancellation fee. Purchases become non-refundable after 90 days. It also lists Mail Forwarding $20/month (24 select states). See the Northwest review.28, 29, 30, 31, 32, 33
Rocket Lawyer
Rocket Lawyer's agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership, so the membership is part of the cost: Plus is $249/year and Pro is $349/year. Documents are scanned and uploaded to email and account. The service renews for successive 1-year terms, and you can cancel at any time by phone, before renewal date. Refund requests must come within 30 days of purchase. Report filing is $100 with Pro membership, excluding state fees. Read the Rocket Lawyer review.34, 35, 36, 37
InCorp Services
InCorp charges $129/year and calls it a $129 per year flat rate, though its terms bill at the then-current fee. Legal documents are scanned and delivered same day, and its dashboard is the Entity Management System (EMS), included free. To stop paying you must dissolve entity, appoint new agent, or resign InCorp with fees before the annual fee falls due. Refund requests are accepted within 60 days of issuance of services. Its report service is listed at $89 + state fees. Read the InCorp review.38, 39, 40, 41
Harbor Compliance
Harbor Compliance starts at $99 first year (new customers) and renews at $159 annually. It lists same-day document scanning. Non-renewal notice is due at least 90 days before the end of the current term, or another term begins. Its refund term: No refunds; fees non-refundable. Its managed report service is $199 per state per year plus filing fees, billed by the year even though Kansas asks for the report every other year. More in the Harbor Compliance review.42, 43, 44
What does a resident agent cost in Kansas in year one and after?
In year one you pay the Articles fee ($85 online, $90 by paper) plus the agent's first-year price; after that, the agent's renewal recurs each year and the Information Report comes on top every other year.2
Filing online is the cheaper route ($85 online against $90 by paper), and the Secretary of State says online filings are processed within minutes. The fee for the biennial report is the gap in the arithmetic: the state changed its fee rules this year and no current official page we checked states the per-filing amount. Check the Secretary of State's site in the months before your first report.2, 3

For several providers, the first year and later years are priced differently.
- Bizee includes the first year with formation, then charges $149/year (ongoing annual fee).17
- ZenBusiness halves the first year when you form the LLC with it, then renews at $199/yr.11
- Harbor Compliance moves from $99 first year (new customers) to $159 annually.42
- Swyft Filings bills by the quarter, so multiply before comparing.
- Rocket Lawyer adds a yearly membership to its agent price.
- doola bundles the agent with formation but doesn't say for how long.
Planning to keep the LLC for a while? Then the renewal column tells you more than the first-year price does, because that is the number you pay again and again. Kansas resident agent services: common questions
Can a Kansas LLC be its own resident agent?
Yes. K.S.A. 17-7925 lists "The covered entity itself" first among those who may serve, ahead of a Kansas resident and business entities. The LLC still needs a registered office that is an address in Kansas where the resident agent may be regularly present, and that address is named in the Articles. The Kansas resident agent guide explains the trade-offs.1, 2
Do I need a yearly compliance plan for a Kansas LLC?
Not for the report alone. Kansas asks for its Information Report only every other year (Every two years), so a plan billed every year covers a year with nothing to file. Per-filing services, such as LegalZoom's ($99 + state filing fees, bills once) or Northwest's ($100 + state fees, charged at filing), are charged for each report instead. Read annual reports explained for how other states differ.4, 15, 31
What does it cost to switch resident agent services in Kansas?
The state fee for Form ROA isn't confirmed on any current official page after this year's fee rule change, so ask the Secretary of State. Provider terms add their own conditions: Harbor Compliance wants notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, and Swyft Filings says a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. File the change first, then cancel.5, 23, 43
What happens if my resident agent service resigns or I stop paying?
An agent that resigns must give the LLC at least 30 days' notice before filing, and the resignation takes effect 30 days after the certificate is filed. An LLC that fails to maintain an active Kansas resident agent and registered office faces forfeiture. Reinstatement starts with a $35 filing fee, and an LLC forfeited only for the agent lapse may ignore the $85 penalty fee. See how to cancel a resident agent before you stop a service.45, 46, 47
Can I list my resident agent's address as my Kansas business address?
That depends on the provider. Tailor Brands' terms state: Agent address cannot be used as the business location in public materials. The agent's address fills the agent field on your Articles whoever you hire; the other addresses on the form appear as you write them. Providers including Bizee and Northwest sell a separate address product. What an agent can and can't keep off the record explains which fields stay public.8
How is the list on this page ordered?
By our score, highest first, with ties in editorial order. The score is built from published, cited facts, and the largest share comes from each provider's Trustpilot rating, which reflects reviews of the whole company rather than its Kansas service. For providers that file reports for you, see agents with compliance tools.
