Best registered agent services in Washington

Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.

Every one of the 10 providers on this page sells registered agent service, and those that state their coverage say it includes every state. Under RCW 23.95.415, a Washington LLC may name a commercial registered agent, and no agent can be named without its say-so: an agent shall not be appointed without having given prior consent in a record. Two state details steer the comparison. The state's fee table lists an agent change as "No fee," so leaving a provider costs nothing at the state level, and each LLC files a yearly Annual Report ($70), which makes a provider's report-filing price worth weighing next to its agent price.1, 2

How is this list ordered, and what did we compare?

The order follows our score, highest first, with tied providers in editorial order; for each one we read its published agent price, renewal, document handling, auto-renewal, cancellation and refund terms.

Our score is built from published, cited facts in three parts: customer satisfaction, breadth of services and dashboard, and value for money. The weights and every provider's parts sit on how we score. Nothing here comes from buying or testing a service, and the Trustpilot figure next to each name is Trustpilot's own, unadjusted.

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.

For Washington the checklist also covers the price each provider asks to file the Annual Report for you, since that filing comes due every year here. Gaps are named as gaps when a provider doesn't publish something. The agent's general job is explained in what a registered agent does; here the question is narrower, picking a commercial agent for a Washington LLC.

Which Washington rules change how you compare agents?

Three rules shape the choice here: the commercial agent category with its consent requirement, a change of agent that the state files for free, and an Annual Report that restates your agent every year.

Commercial and noncommercial agents

Washington's business code sorts agents into two kinds. Under RCW 23.95.415, the formation filing names a commercial registered agent or, if none, a noncommercial registered agent (name and address) or an office or position title. Name yourself or a friend instead, and the filing carries that person's name and address. The consent rule covers both kinds, so a relative who agrees to serve gives consent in a record before the appointment, just as a company does. Who may serve, and the address rules for noncommercial agents, are on the Washington registered agent guide.1

A change of agent is free

The state's fee table lists the Statement of Change/Designation of Agent as "No fee." With no state fee on the change, what leaving really costs depends on the provider you leave: its notice period, its refund window and any renewal it has already billed. State law also expects the LLC to continuously maintain a registered agent, which is why the change naming your new agent goes in before you cancel the old one. The general process is in how to change a registered agent.1, 3

The Annual Report lists your agent

Its sections are these: Registered agent, principal office, governors, nature of business, and real estate excise tax controlling-interest questions. It is due by the last day of the month in which the LLC was originally formed, each year, and can be filed up to 180 days early. Because the agent is restated on each report, the yearly filing is a natural point to confirm it is still correct. Report-filing prices for each provider are in its paragraph below, and the consequences of a missed report are on staying compliant in Washington.3, 4, 5

How do the registered agent services compare in Washington?

The paragraphs keep the table's order. Each covers the agent terms first and then, where the provider sells it, the price of having the Washington report filed.

Tailor Brands

Tailor Brands' agent costs $199/year and renews at $199/year (renews at the same price), figures the company provided directly. On documents, it says: "We scan your documents and upload them to your business dashboard." The agent terms add a condition worth reading before you build a website: "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials." A separate Virtual Address product exists for that, with no published price. Subscriptions come with an automatic renewal option by default, and a refund, when one is issued, carries a service fee of $29. Report filing ("mandatory report filing & updates") is included in Essential and Elite, its yearly formation plans; Tailor Brands doesn't publish a standalone report price. Details are in the Tailor Brands review.6, 7, 8, 9, 10

ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness lists the agent at $199/year, renewing at $199/yr, and offers 50% off registered agent service for the first year when you form an LLC. You get scans; its terms say "Originals will not be forwarded unless the material being sent cannot be copied." To cancel the agent service, its terms say you do it by "contacting our Customer Support Team" at a listed phone number, and the refund clause applies "If you have not yet used the Registered Agent Services." A Washington report filed by ZenBusiness costs $100 per report, or as part of a yearly plan listed as "Worry-Free Compliance $199/year." See the ZenBusiness review.11, 12, 13

LegalZoom

LegalZoom quotes $249/year (first-time registered agent customers) and says the service auto-renews at the purchase rate each year until you cancel. Legal papers arrive as scans; for everything else, "we will upload the documents to your account and email you." On cancelling, LegalZoom says "we may require proof that a new registered agent has been designated with your state," so the free Washington change filing belongs first in the sequence. A single report filing is priced at $99 + state filing fees, billed once, and its Compliance Filings subscription starts at $199/year. More in the LegalZoom review.14, 15, 16, 17

Bizee

Bizee sells the agent alone for $149/year and gives one year of Registered Agent Service for free with its formation packages. Lawsuit papers are mailed via FedEx with tracking. Cancelling works by assigning a new registered agent with state and notifying Bizee of the change, which puts the Washington filing ahead of telling Bizee. It says "we handle annual report filings for you," with no standalone price stated. See the Bizee review.18, 19, 20, 21

Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings prices the agent per quarter, $149 per quarter ($596/year), so compare its yearly figure, not the quarterly one, with the prices elsewhere on this page. It states legal SOP typically available within 2 to 3 hours. Its FAQ sets the exit order: "the registered agent must be changed, or the business must be voluntarily dissolved before the service can be cancelled." Its ComplianceGuard plan says "Annual report filing is completed for your business each year (state fee applies)" and is listed as "ComplianceGuard $199/year" once a free trial ends. See the Swyft Filings review.22, 23, 24

doola

doola shows $297 per year on its agent page, the same figure as its Starter plan, and its agent page notes "RA free with Formation Service," without saying for how long. It advertises local document scans within the same day, but "Physical mail forwarding is not included in your base registered agent subscription." Report filing comes with its Tax and Compliance plan and above, and Starter does not include ongoing compliance filings. doola doesn't publish its state coverage. See the doola review.25, 26, 27

Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest charges $125 per year, and besides legal papers it will scan and digitally upload normal business mail, up to 5 docs per year. Its contact page lists an address in Spokane, WA. Read the billing terms closely: agent customers are automatically enrolled in Compliance Services (annual report filing), which it offers for $100 plus state fees. That service is charged at filing, so an owner who files the Washington report alone should check how the enrollment is set up. Its terms let you "cancel your Service anytime by logging onto your account," and purchases become "final and non-refundable after 90 days." See the Northwest review.28, 29, 30, 31, 32

Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer's agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership, so a year costs the agent plus either Plus ($249/year) or Pro ($349/year). The service will automatically renew for successive 1-year terms; you can cancel at any time by contacting Rocket Lawyer by phone, and refund requests are due within 30 days of purchase. Report filing is $100 with a Rocket Lawyer Pro membership, and the pricing page marks it not included on Plus. Read the Rocket Lawyer review.33, 34, 35, 36

InCorp Services

InCorp advertises a flat $129 per year that has increased exactly once since 1998, while its terms leave room for renewals billed at then-current fee. Legal papers are scanned and sent the same day they arrive. To stop paying, its terms say you must satisfy "at least one of the following cancellation conditions" before the next yearly fee, and appointing a new agent is one of them. Its annual report service is $89 + state fees. Read the InCorp review.37, 38, 39

Harbor Compliance

Harbor Compliance asks $99 first year (new customers) and renews at $159 annually. Its terms call for "notice of non-renewal of the Subscription Services at least 90 days prior" to the end of a term, and they state "all Fees paid for the Services are non-refundable." On reports, Harbor says "Annual fees are $199 per state plus filing fees." More in the Harbor Compliance review.40, 41, 42

Which best-for lists apply to a Washington LLC?

The yearly report makes the compliance list the most relevant one here, with the lists for low cost, non-resident founders and business addresses also useful.

The compliance list ranks providers that file the report inside a plan ahead of those selling the filing as an extra, for example Tailor Brands, where report filing is included in Essential and Elite, against InCorp's report service at $89 + state fees; see agents with compliance tools.10, 39

For the smallest yearly agent bill, cheapest registered agent services sorts by published starting price with renewals alongside. Founders based abroad can start with agents for non-resident founders, and anyone after a separate business address can check agents that sell a business address.

What does a registered agent cost in Washington in year one and later?

Year one is the $180 Certificate of Formation fee plus the agent's first-year price, with the Initial Report free if filed with the Certificate of Formation; from year two you pay the agent renewal and the $70 Annual Report.2, 43

First-year and renewal figures split apart for several providers. ZenBusiness halves its first year for LLCs it forms, Bizee and doola fold the agent into formation, and Harbor discounts year one for new customers. Swyft's price is quarterly, and Rocket Lawyer's sits on top of a membership. In Washington the second-year bill also carries the state's report fee, plus a provider's charge if you hand the filing off. A late report adds a $25 delinquency fee once the LLC's status shows Delinquent, for $95 total.3

Washington registered agent services: common questions

Does Washington charge a fee to change registered agents?

No. The fee table lists the Statement of Change/Designation of Agent as "No fee." What you may still pay comes from the provider you leave, such as Harbor's terms, which call for "notice of non-renewal of the Subscription Services at least 90 days prior" to the end of a term, or a renewal billed before you cancel.2, 3, 41

Can a registered agent be appointed in Washington without agreeing to it?

No. Under RCW 23.95.415, an agent shall not be appointed without having given prior consent in a record. That applies to a friend or relative too: their consent in a record has to come before the formation filing names them. The Washington registered agent guide covers who qualifies.1

Do I need an agent service that files the Washington annual report?

No. You can file it yourself for $70. A provider charges on top of that, such as ZenBusiness's $100 per report or LegalZoom's $99 + state filing fees, and Northwest's agent customers are automatically enrolled in Compliance Services (annual report filing). Annual reports explained walks through how these filings work.2, 11, 16, 30

What happens if my LLC misses the annual report in Washington?

Once the LLC's status shows Delinquent, the state adds a $25 delinquency fee to the report fee. An LLC that is later administratively dissolved pays a $140 penalty plus all missed annual report fees to reinstate. The timeline is on staying compliant in Washington.3, 43

How is the list on this page ordered?

By our score, highest first, with ties in editorial order. Trustpilot ratings make up the largest part of that score, and they describe each company overall rather than its Washington service, so the terms above are the better guide for your own LLC. The method is on how we score, and how to cancel a registered agent covers the exit steps.
