Best registered agent services in Colorado

Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.

All 10 services on this page sell registered agent service, and each review records the state coverage its provider publishes. Under C.R.S. § 7-90-701, an individual agent qualifies when their primary residence or usual place of business is in this state. Two state rules shape the choice. Colorado charges only $10 to change agents, and you can also update the agent on the Periodic Report, so leaving a provider costs little at the state level. And every Colorado LLC files a Periodic Report each year for $25, which gives the report-filing and reminder features some services sell real work to do here.1, 2

How is this list ordered, and what did we compare?

Providers are listed by our score, highest first, and ties fall in editorial order. We compared the same published facts for each one: agent price, renewal, document delivery, cancellation and refunds.

Our score uses only published facts that we cite: customer satisfaction, breadth of services and dashboard, and value. Each provider's breakdown is on how we score. Nothing here comes from buying or trying a service. Trustpilot's figure sits in its own column, cited to Trustpilot and never adjusted by us.

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.

Every price, renewal term and policy below comes from the provider's own pages or terms, or is marked as supplied by the provider. Where a provider leaves something out, the paragraph says it doesn't publish it. For the agent's general job, read what a registered agent does. Who may serve in Colorado and how the agent is named on the Articles are covered in the Colorado registered agent guide.

Which Colorado rules change how you compare agent services?

The in-state rule for individual agents, the low fee to change agents and the yearly report, with its fixed filing window and late penalty, all change what a provider's terms are worth here.

An in-state address, and an exception for entities

The statute lets an individual serve if their primary residence or usual place of business is in this state, and it adds that an entity in good standing with a Colorado place of business may serve as its own registered agent. An LLC that is already in good standing and has a Colorado office could therefore name itself. A new LLC with no Colorado office names either an individual who meets the residence or workplace test or a commercial agent. Whichever agent you hire, its address goes in the agent field; that is how every registered agent works, so it isn't a reason to pick one provider over another.1

A low cost to switch

A Statement of Change naming a new agent costs $10, and the Secretary of State also lets you update the agent on the Periodic Report. Because the state side costs so little, a provider's exit rules weigh more than usual: a long notice period, a closed refund window or a rule that the new agent must be on file first. How to change a registered agent walks through the order of steps.2

The yearly report gives compliance features a job

Colorado's Periodic Report costs $25 and is filed online. It falls in the LLC's own reporting month and can be filed two months before or two months after it without penalty. You can find your reporting month on the entity's Summary page. Miss it and the state adds a $50 late filing penalty, and the LLC can turn delinquent. Unlike states with no LLC report, a service that files the report or reminds you about it has something concrete to do in Colorado. The full deadline rules and what the report asks for are on staying compliant in Colorado.2, 3

How do the Colorado registered agent services compare?

The order below matches the table above. For each provider we note the agent's price, what it does for Colorado's yearly report, and what it takes to leave.

Tailor Brands

The agent costs $199/year and renews at $199/year (renews at the same price), both supplied by the provider, and it lists documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard. For the yearly report, its registered agent page says the agent can file the annual report if instructed, and the plan priced at $199/yr plus state fees includes annual compliance (report filing and updates); neither page names Colorado's Periodic Report specifically. Its terms limit the address itself: you must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials. For a public-facing address it sells a separate Virtual Address product (its listing: price not published). Its general terms have auto-renewal on by default for subscriptions and describe a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. The Tailor Brands review covers its plans in full.4, 5, 6, 7

ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness charges $199/year, renewing at $199/yr, and offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. It sells annual report filing as a one-off (Annual Report Filing $100 per report); its page doesn't say whether that figure includes Colorado's $25 state fee. You leave by contacting customer support by phone. More on its plans is in the ZenBusiness review.8, 9, 10

LegalZoom

The LegalZoom review has its full terms. Its agent is $249/year (first-time registered agent customers), and the service auto-renews at the purchase rate each year until you cancel, with the rate subject to change. Its agent service lists email reminders about annual report deadlines via Compliance Calendar, or it will file an annual report once for $99 + state filing fees. On exit, proof of new RA may be required; in Colorado the change is recorded by a Statement of Change or an updated Periodic Report. Under the agent terms, prepaid fees are refunded only when LegalZoom terminates the service, and LegalZoom's general guarantee doesn't say whether its own refund window covers agent service. Its state coverage isn't stated on the pages we checked.11, 12, 13

Bizee

Bizee offers a free first year with any Bizee formation package; bought alone, the agent is $149/year and renews at $149/year (ongoing annual fee). Lawsuit papers are mailed via FedEx with tracking. Its agent page lists free lifetime compliance notifications, while its annual report filing service has no published price. To leave, you cancel by assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change; in Colorado the state step is the Statement of Change, filed before you tell Bizee. See the Bizee review for packages.14, 15, 16, 17

Swyft Filings

This is the one quarterly price on the page: $149 per quarter ($596/year). Swyft says documents are uploaded to your account, with legal SOP typically within 2-3 hours. Its report service, ComplianceGuard $199/year, comes as a 14-day free trial then auto-charged, so a Colorado owner who plans to file alone would need to cancel before the trial ends. Swyft says a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation, and it handles refunds by charge type and order status. Details are in the Swyft Filings review.18, 19, 20, 21

doola

The listed agent price is $297 per year, and it is unclear whether this is a standalone RA price or the Starter plan. doola also says its agent comes free with its formation service (RA free with Formation Service) without saying for how long. It offers same-day scans and sends annual report notifications, which for a Colorado LLC would mean the Periodic Report. Its general terms let you quit by deleting the account or by email (Delete account any time, or email help@doola.com), yet the state record keeps naming doola until a Statement of Change replaces it. Coverage by state isn't published on the pages we checked. The doola review explains its plans.22, 23

Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest's agent is $125 per year, and documents land in your online account. Agent customers are enrolled automatically in its annual report service, $100 + state fees, charged at filing, so an owner who plans to file the Periodic Report alone for the state fee would need to opt out before Northwest files. Its terms allow cancellation online (Cancel anytime through the online account; no cancellation fee), and purchases become non-refundable after 90 days. Whether the agent itself auto-renews isn't stated. Read the Northwest review.24, 25, 26, 27

Rocket Lawyer

Expect to pay twice here: the agent ($125 with a Plus or Pro membership) plus Plus at $249/year or Pro at $349/year. Only Pro adds report filing (annual report $100). Documents are scanned and uploaded to email and account. You can cancel at any time by phone, before renewal date, with refunds requested within 30 days of purchase. The Rocket Lawyer review breaks down the memberships.28, 29, 30

InCorp Services

InCorp lists the agent at $129/year. For renewal, its page describes a $129 per year flat rate, while its terms allow the then current fee. It says legal documents are scanned and delivered same day, and its annual report service costs $89 + state fees. Leaving requires one of these before the yearly fee is due: dissolve entity, appoint new agent, or resign InCorp with fees. Appointing a new agent in Colorado is the cheap option at $10. Refunds can be requested within 60 days of issuance of services. The InCorp review has the rest.31, 32, 33, 34

Harbor Compliance

Harbor charges $99 first year (new customers), then $159 annually, and advertises same-day document scanning. Its annual report service runs $199 per state per year plus filing fees, so Colorado's $25 fee is added on top. The agent renews unless you give notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, and the terms say all Fees paid for the Services are non-refundable; next to the state's small change fee, that notice date is the cost to watch. See the Harbor Compliance review.35, 36, 37

Which best-for picks apply to a Colorado LLC?

These best-for lists apply to a Colorado LLC, and each pick below rests on one published fact.

What does a registered agent cost for a Colorado LLC in year one and later?

To form the LLC you pay the state's Articles of Organization fee, $50 (online only), plus the agent's first-year price. The recurring bill after that is the agent's renewal plus the $25 Periodic Report, filed once a year in the LLC's reporting month.2

The renewal column says more about a multi-year bill than the entry price does. Several providers price the first year differently from later ones.

  1. Harbor Compliance charges $99 first year (new customers) and renews at $159 annually.35
  2. ZenBusiness takes 50% off the first year when it forms the LLC.9
  3. Bizee and doola fold the agent into formation; Bizee then charges $149/year (ongoing annual fee).16
  4. Swyft Filings bills by the quarter, at $149 per quarter ($596/year), so compare the yearly figure.18
  5. Rocket Lawyer adds its membership on top, from $249/year for Plus.29

A service that files the Periodic Report for you adds its own fee to the state's $25. If you file yourself, the state fee is the whole cost. Colorado registered agent services: common questions

Can a Colorado LLC be its own registered agent?

Sometimes. Colorado law says an entity in good standing with a usual place of business in the state may serve as its own registered agent. A brand-new LLC with no Colorado office can't use that route, so it names an individual who qualifies or a commercial service.1

How do I switch registered agent services in Colorado?

File a Statement of Change naming the new agent for $10, or make the change while filing your Periodic Report. Cancel the old service after the change is on file. Some providers require that order: Swyft Filings' terms say a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation.2, 20

What happens if my Colorado agent resigns?

The agent files a resignation statement and must deliver notice to the entity; the resignation can take effect on filing or on a delayed date (up to 90 days). If the LLC doesn't name a replacement, Colorado's rule is that an LLC becomes Delinquent if it fails to appoint a new registered agent after the agent resigns. Curing it means filing a $100 Statement Curing Delinquency.2, 40

Do I need a service to file my Colorado periodic report?

No. The report is filed online for $25, and you can file it yourself. A service adds its own fee, for example $89 + state fees at InCorp or Northwest's $100 + state fees, charged at filing. The case for paying is mainly not missing the window; a late report adds a $50 late filing penalty.2, 25, 33

Can I use my registered agent's address as my Colorado business address?

That depends on the provider's terms, and some forbid it. Tailor Brands' terms say you must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials. Providers that sell a separate business address are listed on registered agents and privacy, with what stays on the public record either way.

How is this list ordered?

By our score, highest first, with ties in editorial order. The score is built from published facts, and the largest share comes from each provider's Trustpilot rating, which reflects the whole company rather than its Colorado service. Compare the prices and exit terms above for your own LLC, and see how we score for the method.
