Best registered agent services in Kentucky

Facts checked October 13 to 15, 2026.

All 10 services compared here sell registered agent service; most say they cover every state, while LegalZoom and doola don't state their coverage on the pages we checked. Under KRS 14A.4-010, a Kentucky agent is a resident individual or an entity or foreign entity qualified to transact business in this Commonwealth, in either case one whose business address is identical with the registered office. So when you hire a service, its Kentucky address becomes your LLC's registered office. The cost to watch here comes later: every LLC files an annual report between January 1 and June 30, and the state lists no late fee for missing it, because domestic LLCs that miss June 30 are administratively dissolved. That makes a service's reminders and report filing worth comparing next to its price.1, 2

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.

Our score uses only published, cited facts: customer ratings, the range of services and dashboard features, and value once renewals are counted. The weighting and each provider's breakdown are on how we score. We don't buy or test services, and a tie in score says nothing about which provider is better.

For every provider we gathered the same facts for a Kentucky LLC: the agent price and renewal, how papers reach you, whether reminders or annual report filing are sold, how auto-renewal works, how to cancel and what can be refunded. Each comes from the provider's own pages or terms, or is marked as supplied by the provider, and appears in the Sources list. Where a provider doesn't publish a fact, the paragraph says so. If you want the basics of the role first, read what a registered agent does.

Which Kentucky rules change how you compare agent services?

These rules shape the choice: the agent's address doubles as the registered office, the annual report has a hard June deadline with dissolution behind it, and changing agents later is cheap.

The agent's address is the registered office

Kentucky law requires an LLC to keep a registered office that may be the same as any of its places of business, and the agent's business address must match it. Hire a commercial agent and the provider's Kentucky address fills both roles on the public record, which is the same for every service on this page. None of them offers it as an extra. Your principal office is a separate entry, and the annual report asks you to confirm the principal and registered agent/office. A few providers sell a business address product, but whether one can serve as a principal office in Kentucky is a question for the Secretary of State. Who may act as agent, and how to name one, is covered in the Kentucky registered agent guide.1

The annual report deadline decides how useful reminders are

The report costs $15 and is due by June 30 each year. Missing it doesn't add a late charge; instead domestic LLCs that miss June 30 are administratively dissolved, and coming back costs a $100 reinstatement penalty plus any delinquent filing fees. A low state fee with a severe penalty is the situation where a reminder email or an included filing earns its keep. The providers differ a lot here, from reminders only to a paid filing service to a plan that includes the report. Staying compliant in Kentucky sets out the full calendar.2, 3

Cheap changes put the weight on exit terms

A new agent is named on the Statement of Change of Registered Agent and Office (Form RAC), which costs $10. The annual report won't do the job, since agent and principal office changes cannot be made on the report, so the change is always its own filing. With the state fee this low, the bigger cost of leaving a provider is usually its notice period or a refund window that has closed. The order of steps is in how to change a registered agent.2, 3, 4

How do the registered agent services compare for Kentucky?

Each provider below follows the table's order, and each paragraph sticks to that provider's published terms and how they meet Kentucky's rules.

Tailor Brands

Tailor Brands prices agent service at $199/year, renewing at $199/year (renews at the same price); the provider supplied both prices. It says it serves all 50 states and lists an LLC dashboard with new-document notifications. In explanatory copy about agents, its page says the agent can file the annual report if instructed. Its Essential plan, at $199/yr plus state fees, includes annual compliance (report filing and updates), which covers the yearly filing; the price of a standalone report service isn't published. Its terms add one condition on the address: "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials." For a public-facing address it sells a Virtual Address product (price not published). Its terms describe auto-renewal on by default for subscription services, and fees are generally non-refundable, with a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. See the Tailor Brands review.5, 6, 7, 8, 9

ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness lists $199/year and renews at $199/yr, with 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. It lists documents scanned and uploaded to dashboard, and it describes mail and overnight delivery for urgent notices. For annual reports, it sells Annual Report Filing $100 per report, and its compliance plan covers report filing on a yearly subscription. Cancelling works by contacting customer support by phone, and its terms allow a refund only if the service has not yet been used. See the ZenBusiness review.10, 11, 12

LegalZoom

LegalZoom's agent is $249/year (first-time registered agent customers), and it auto-renews at the purchase rate each year until you cancel, at a rate that can change. The service includes email reminders about annual report deadlines via Compliance Calendar. A one-time annual report filing is $99 + state filing fees, bills once, so the service fee is several times Kentucky's $15 state fee. If you leave, proof of new RA may be required, so in Kentucky the Form RAC filing may need to come first. LegalZoom doesn't state its state coverage on the pages we checked. See the LegalZoom review.13, 14, 15

Bizee

Bizee charges $149/year, renewing at $149/year (ongoing annual fee), and offers a free first year with any Bizee formation package. Its agent page promises free lifetime compliance notifications, and service of process, the formal delivery of a lawsuit, is mailed via FedEx with tracking. Bizee also says it handles annual report filings, with no standalone price stated. You cancel by assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change, so the new agent's filing with the state comes before the notice to Bizee. Orders are generally refundable until payment is forwarded to a government entity. See the Bizee review.16, 17, 18, 19, 20

Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings bills $149 per quarter ($596/year), which makes it the highest yearly agent price on this page, and the service auto-renews until cancelled. Its page promises legal SOP typically within 2 to 3 hours, plus notifications of state correspondence. Deadline alerts and annual report filing sit in a separate product, ComplianceGuard $199/year. Its terms say a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation, so the Form RAC must be on file with the Secretary of State first. Refunds are handled case-by-case by charge type and order status, with no published time window. See the Swyft Filings review.21, 22, 23, 24

doola

doola's agent page shows $297 per year, which matches its Starter plan, and it doesn't say whether that price buys the agent alone. The agent is free with Formation Service, for an unstated length of time. It includes annual report notifications, though Starter does not include ongoing compliance filings; report filing comes with its higher plans. Physical mail forwarding is not included in base RA subscription unless stated in plan. To leave, its general terms let you delete account any time, or email help@doola.com; there's no agent-specific process published. doola says it works with a non-resident without a US SSN. doola doesn't state its state coverage on the pages we checked. See the doola review.25, 26, 27, 28

Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest lists $125 per year and says it has offices in every state plus D.C. and Puerto Rico. One term deserves attention in Kentucky: its pages say registered agent customers are automatically enrolled in Compliance Services, and that service files the report at $100 + state fees, charged at filing. If you'd rather file the $15 report yourself, check that enrollment before June. Separately, it sells Mail Forwarding $20/month (24 select states). Cancelling is online with no cancellation fee, and purchases are non-refundable after 90 days. See the Northwest review.29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34

Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer's agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership. The membership is a separate yearly charge, $249/year for Plus or $349/year for Pro, so add it to the agent price. Annual report filing is $100 with Pro membership, excluding state fees. The agent renews for successive 1-year terms, and refund requests must come within 30 days of purchase. See the Rocket Lawyer review.35, 36, 37, 38

InCorp Services

InCorp charges $129/year and calls it a $129 per year flat rate, though its terms say service is billed at then-current fee. Its agent service includes email reminders before deadlines, and the annual report filing service is $89 + state fees. To stop paying you must meet one condition: dissolve entity, appoint new agent, or resign InCorp with fees. Refunds must be requested within 60 days of issuance of services. See the InCorp review.39, 40, 41, 42

Harbor Compliance

Harbor Compliance starts at $99 first year (new customers) and renews at $159 annually. Its managed report service is $199 per state per year plus filing fees. The agent renews unless you give notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, so a switch needs planning well before the renewal date. Its terms say "all Fees paid for the Services are non-refundable." It also sells a virtual address at $350/year per company, per location. See the Harbor Compliance review.43, 44, 45, 46

Which best-for lists fit a Kentucky LLC?

The site's best-for lists each rest on one published fact. These are the ones Kentucky's rules make most relevant.

What does a registered agent cost in Kentucky in year one and after?

Year one is the $40 Articles fee plus the agent's first-year price. From year two, add the agent renewal, the $15 report and any report-filing fee a provider charges.3

There's a third yearly cost that has nothing to do with the agent. Kentucky's Limited Liability Entity Tax (LLET) has a minimum of $175 a year under the tax statute, and the statute's exemptions aren't reviewed here; the Kentucky compliance page explains it. Agent prices then shift between the first year and the second.47

Report filing adds to the second-year bill unless your plan includes it. Paying a provider $89 + state fees or $99 + state filing fees to file a $15 report is a choice about convenience and the dissolution risk, not about the state fee. Full totals for a new LLC are worked out in the cheapest ways to form a Kentucky LLC and Kentucky LLC formation services compared. Kentucky registered agent services: common questions

Does my registered agent's address become my registered office in Kentucky?

Yes. Kentucky requires the agent's business address to match the registered office (KRS 14A.4-010), so a commercial agent's Kentucky address fills both on the public record. Your principal office is listed separately, and you confirm the principal and registered agent/office on each annual report.1

What does it cost to switch registered agent services in Kentucky?

The Secretary of State charges $10 for the Statement of Change of Registered Agent and Office (Form RAC). The larger costs tend to come from the old provider: Harbor Compliance requires notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, and Swyft Filings says a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. File the change first, then cancel; the Kentucky registered agent guide has the details.3, 4, 23, 45

Do I need my agent service to file the Kentucky annual report?

No, you can file the report yourself for $15 between January and the June deadline. Some owners pay a provider because of how the penalty works: Kentucky lists no late fee, and domestic LLCs that miss June 30 are administratively dissolved. Reminders are included with several agent services, and filing is sold separately or in a plan; see how annual reports work.2

What happens if my Kentucky registered agent resigns?

The agent files a statement of resignation and the SOS mails copies to the registered office and the LLC's principal office. It takes effect when you appoint a successor or on the 31st day after filing, whichever comes first. Being without an agent for 60 days or more is grounds for administrative dissolution, and the replacement is named on the Statement of Change of Registered Agent and Office (Form RAC). How to cancel a registered agent covers the other direction.4, 48, 49

Can I list my agent's address as my Kentucky business address?

That depends on the provider's terms. Tailor Brands' terms say: "You must not designate or otherwise refer to the Registered Address as your business location in any public materials." LegalZoom's agent terms set a similar limit: "You may not list the Registered Address in your company's public media." The agent's address is always the registered office, but the principal office is a separate entry; providers such as Harbor Compliance sell a virtual address ($350/year per company, per location), and whether it qualifies as a principal office is a question for the Secretary of State.13, 46

How is the list on this page ordered?

By our score, highest first, with ties in editorial order. The largest part of our score comes from each provider's Trustpilot rating, which reflects reviews of the whole company and not its Kentucky service specifically. The method and breakdowns are on how we score; for a single-category view, see registered agents for first-time founders or all-in-one services.
