Best LLC formation services in Mississippi

Facts checked October 13 to 14, 2026.

A Mississippi LLC is formed by filing the Certificate of Formation (F0100) with the Secretary of State for $50, naming a registered agent, and that is the whole state step. Online filings that need a staff look are reviewed generally within 24 hours, and the state doesn't publish a paid expedite option. A formation service files the same certificate and adds its own fee and its own processing time, and several providers quote handling times in days or weeks. Packages differ mainly in whether they include an agent, an EIN, an operating agreement and annual report filing.1, 2, 3

How do you form an LLC in Mississippi, step by step?

Check the name, choose a registered agent, file the Certificate of Formation online, then get an EIN and sign an operating agreement; after that, the annual report has a yearly deadline.

Most of these steps take minutes online. The order still counts, because a filing with a taken name or a missing agent comes back to you.

  1. Check the name. Look it up in the Secretary of State's business records before you file. If you need to hold a name before filing, a reservation costs $25. If you are filing straight away, you don't need one.1
  2. Choose your registered agent. Under Miss. Code Ann. § 79-35-2, an agent is either commercial or noncommercial, and a commercial registered agent is an individual or entity listed under Section 79-35-6. An owner can act as a noncommercial agent for their own LLC. The Mississippi registered agent guide explains who qualifies.4
  3. Prepare the certificate. The form is the Certificate of Formation (F0100). A service fills it in from your answers at checkout; filing yourself, you complete it in the state's online system.1
  4. File online. The state lists its filing methods as Online (preferred); paper filings accepted but much slower, and its FAQ says "All business filings may be submitted and paid for online". The online route is the one to pick unless you have a reason to mail paper.3
  5. Wait for review. Some online filings are accepted straight away, and others go to staff, which happens generally within 24 hours. The state doesn't publish an expedite option or fee for LLC filings.
  6. Get an EIN. The EIN is your LLC's federal tax number, and it comes from the IRS, not the state. Banks usually ask for one before opening a business account. Some packages include it; others sell it on its own.
  7. Sign an operating agreement. It records who owns the LLC and how decisions are made. Some packages include a template.
  8. Diary the annual report. Mississippi's report is due April 15 each year and costs $0. The ongoing rules are on staying compliant in Mississippi.2, 5

We found no official Mississippi page that sets a newspaper publication step for new LLCs, or one that rules it out; if that question comes up in your case, the Secretary of State can confirm. An LLC already formed in another state registers here instead, for $250.1

What does a Mississippi LLC cost with and without a service?

The state charges the same $50 whoever files. Every package price below is quoted before that fee.

Mississippi Secretary of State fees for LLCs
FilingFee
Form the LLC$50 sos.ms.gov
Reserve a name$25 sos.ms.gov
Change of registered agent$10 sos.ms.gov
Recurring report$0 sos.ms.gov
Reinstatement after dissolution$50 (F0109); certain LLCs also need a tax clearance letter from the Department of Revenue sos.ms.gov
Register an out-of-state LLC$250 (Application for Registration of Foreign LLC, F0200) sos.ms.gov

The state doesn't publish an expedite fee for LLC filings, so the state charge shown here is the filing fee alone. The next table shows each provider's agent price and cheapest package, ordered by our score, highest first, with ties in editorial order.

"Not listed" means the published package description doesn't mention the item, so ask the provider before you order. Agent renewals and the year-two total are worked through on the cheapest ways to form a Mississippi LLC.

What does each provider's formation package include for Mississippi?

Packages appear in the order of the provider table, by our score with ties in editorial order. In each one, check the provider's own processing time and any report-filing charge.

A provider's queue is often slower than the state's review here, and a report-filing feature charges for a filing Mississippi gives away free.

Mississippi registered agent services compared covers each company's agent terms in more depth.

Tailor Brands

Lite costs $0 plus state fees, and Tailor Brands processes it within 14 business days; its listing notes no annual compliance, operating agreement or branding tools. Essential, at $199/yr plus state fees, is processed within 1 business day and adds annual compliance (report filing and updates), operating agreement. In Mississippi that compliance feature covers a report with no state fee.6

Essential and Elite ($249/yr plus state fees) are yearly charges, not one-time ones. The packages don't list a registered agent, which Tailor Brands sells at $199/year. It offers an EIN filing service, price not published.6, 7, 8

ZenBusiness

Starter is $0 + state fees (does not renew) and is processed in 7-10 days; ZenBusiness says that figure excludes Secretary of State time, so in Mississippi the provider's queue, not the state's review, sets the pace. You can pay to shorten it (Rush upgrade +$79 on Starter), and Pro and Premium include 1-day processing; Pro costs $199 + state fees, renews at $199/yr. Starter comes with Worry-Free Compliance free for 1 year (then $199/yr), and the EIN and operating agreement are +$99 add-ons. The agent is an add-on +$199/yr, though LLCs formed with ZenBusiness get 50% off the first year ($99), so the first agent year costs less than later ones.9, 30

LegalZoom

The lowest LegalZoom package is $0 + state filing fees and lists Articles of organization. The EIN is $79 and an operating agreement starts at $99, while the agent service is $249/year (first-time registered agent customers). The middle package, at $249 + state filing fees, adds attorney consultations (30 days included, then $49/month auto-renew), which turns into a monthly charge if you don't cancel.11, 12, 13, 14

Bizee

Basic, at $0 + state fee, includes Registered Agent (1st year included), after which the agent renews at $149/year (ongoing annual fee). On Basic, an EIN ($70) and an operating agreement (+$99) are both sold as extras at checkout. Standard ($199 + state fee) adds both, with faster processing (~2 weeks); Premium ($299 + state fee) lists expedited filing (~4 business days). Those timings are Bizee's own; Mississippi's review of online filings is shorter than either.15, 16, 31

Swyft Filings

Basic is $0 + state fees, covering Preparation and filing of Articles of Organization; 100% accuracy guarantee; processes in 7-10 business days. By tier, Swyft lists processing as Basic 7-10 business days; Standard 3 business days; Premium 1 business day. Standard costs $169 + state fees (promotional, 'SAVE $30'; regular $199) and adds custom organizational minutes, custom banking resolution, business banking essentials, operating agreement. No registered agent appears in the packages; the agent is $149 per quarter ($596/year). Every plan comes with a trial of ComplianceGuard $199/year (14-day free trial then auto-charged). For a Mississippi LLC, decide before the trial ends whether that yearly charge is worth it for a report the state charges nothing to file.17, 32, 33

doola

doola's Starter plan is $297/yr, billed every year, and includes LLC filing, EIN, US bank account guidance, US business address, registered agent. doola gives its own timing as 1-2 business days filing, after which the state's review applies. The next plan, at $1,999/yr, adds federal and state tax filing. doola says it can help a US citizen or a non-resident without a US SSN; agent services for non-resident founders covers that group.18, 19, 34

Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest's package is $39 + State Fees and lists filing plus a free domain name, open source website, phone line, business email, business address, brand protection. On the agent, Northwest's corporation page calls its formation price a total that includes one year of registered agent service; its LLC page doesn't say the same, so ask before ordering. The agent alone costs $125 per year. Its operating agreement template is free, and the EIN costs $50 (with SSN); $200 without SSN.20, 21, 22, 23, 35

Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer's first registration is free with a Rocket Lawyer membership, so the membership is the real price: Standard $149/year, Plus $249/year, Pro $349/year. Membership starts with a free 7-day trial and is then billed yearly. The agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership, the EIN is $70 with Plus or Pro membership, and no operating agreement is listed with formation.24, 25, 36, 37

InCorp

InCorp prices formation starting at $99 plus state fees, and doesn't publish an itemized package list; the line it gives is "Live chat and phone support included". The agent is not part of it; InCorp says it is sold separately at $129 per state per year. An EIN service is $69. InCorp also sells its own rush ($50.00 InCorp expedite fee), with any state expedite fee extra. Mississippi doesn't publish a state expedite fee for LLC filings.26, 27, 28, 38

Harbor Compliance

Harbor prices formation starting at $99 plus state fees and says "Most LLCs prepared and filed in one business day". Its formation page lists these items: Name check, articles, registered agent, EIN, operating agreement. It doesn't say which tier includes what or how long an included agent lasts. The standalone agent is $99 first year (new customers), renewing at $159 annually. Harbor offers expedited state processing in most states, price not published; Mississippi doesn't publish an expedite option, so ask Harbor what that would buy here.29, 39, 40

Should you file the Mississippi certificate yourself or use a service?

Filing yourself costs $50 and can be done online; a service charges its package price on top and mostly saves you the form-filling and the follow-up steps.2

The state's FAQ says "All business filings may be submitted and paid for online", online review happens generally within 24 hours, and the state doesn't publish an expedite tier. Paper is the one route to avoid if time counts, because paper filings take significantly longer.3

A service earns its fee in other places. It can act as your registered agent, so its address goes in the agent field instead of yours; that is true of any agent service. It can bundle the EIN and an operating agreement template. Some packages also add a yearly compliance service, but the Mississippi report is $0 and online only, so weigh that feature's renewal price against a short online form each spring.1

Watch the provider's queue too. Several of the cheapest packages quote handling times in days or weeks, while the state reviews online filings in hours, so if you want the LLC this week, either file it yourself or pick a package with faster handling. Some providers also sell a separate business address for the other address fields; Swyft Filings, for example, lists one at $29/mo. Owners with partners or investors may want a lawyer to review the operating agreement rather than relying on a template. The glossary defines the filing terms, and what a registered agent does explains the agent's role.17

Questions about forming an LLC in Mississippi

How long does it take to form an LLC in Mississippi?

The Secretary of State says online filings that need staff review are reviewed generally within 24 hours, and some are accepted at once. The state gives no time for paper, only that paper filings take significantly longer. With a service, add its own processing time, which for several cheapest packages is longer than the state's review.3

Can I pay the state to expedite a Mississippi LLC filing?

The Secretary of State doesn't publish an expedite option or fee for LLC filings. Some providers sell their own rush handling, such as ZenBusiness (Rush upgrade +$79 on Starter) or InCorp ($50.00 InCorp expedite fee). Those charges shorten the provider's queue, not the state's.9, 38

Can I file the Mississippi formation certificate on paper?

The state accepts paper filings, but its filing page warns that paper registrations will take significantly longer to process than online filings. Online filings can also be paid for online.3

Do formation packages include a Mississippi registered agent?

Some do. Bizee's Basic lists Registered Agent (1st year included). doola's Starter includes an agent, duration not stated. ZenBusiness sells the agent as an add-on +$199/yr. Compare the renewal as well as the first year on Mississippi registered agent services.9, 15, 19

Do I need a package that files my Mississippi annual report?

Not for the fee. Mississippi charges $0 for an LLC's report, due April 15 each year, and the form is online only. A package feature that files it saves time and helps you avoid missing the deadline. See staying compliant in Mississippi and how annual reports work.2

Should I reserve my LLC name first?

Only if you can't file soon. A reservation costs $25. If you are ready to file, checking the name and filing the Certificate of Formation straight away saves that fee.1
