Which Mississippi rules change how you compare agent services?

The annual report costs nothing and is filed online, so a paid filing service sells convenience only. Leaving an agent is cheap, but the state can dissolve an LLC that goes too long without one.

Commercial and noncommercial agents. Mississippi's agent law defines a noncommercial agent as one that is not on the commercial list, and a commercial registered agent is an individual or entity listed under Section 79-35-6. Any individual or business can be the noncommercial kind. That includes an owner acting for their own LLC. Before paying a national company, it is fair to ask whether it is on the commercial list for Mississippi and how it is recorded there. The report is free, and the state fills most of it in. Mississippi's form is the Annual Report (F0108), $0 for domestic LLCs, due April 15, online only, and it comes pre-populated with the company's existing record, which you review and update; the filing window opens early in the year (may be filed from January 1). A provider's report filing service therefore saves you a short online task, not a state fee. Several services charge for that task, at different prices, and skipping it is not free either: not filing can lead to administrative dissolution. Leaving is cheap, but the timing is strict. The change is filed on the LLC Registered Agent/Office Statement of Change (F0010); the Secretary of State's (SOS) FAQ says agent changes are handled as an amendment in the online system. The state fee is $10. The deadline is the part that bites. An LLC with no agent for 60 days or more can be dissolved, and the same is true if it fails to notify the SOS within 60 days that its agent changed or resigned. So file the change first and cancel the old provider second.^{2, 4, 6}

A provider can also leave you. If an agent resigns, it must give the LLC written notice at least 30 days before filing, and the resignation takes effect on the 31st day after filing or when a new agent is appointed, whichever is earlier. That gives you a window to name someone new, which is easier if you already know your second choice.⁷

How do the registered agent services compare for Mississippi?

Each provider below is described from its own published terms, in the same order as the table.

Tailor Brands

Tailor Brands prices its agent at $199/year, and the renewal it lists is $199/year (renews at the same price); both figures are supplied by the provider. Coverage is all 50 states, with documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard. Its agent page says reminders are sent and the agent can file the annual report if instructed; in Mississippi that is the free report due April 15 each year. The Essential package ($199/yr plus state fees) lists annual compliance (report filing and updates). Its terms say the agent address cannot be used as the business location in public materials; a separate Virtual Address product is sold for a business address, price not published. Billing has auto-renewal on by default for subscription services, and fees are non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law, with a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness lists $199/year, renewing at $199/yr. An LLC formed with ZenBusiness gets 50% off the first year ($99) of agent service. You receive scanned copies, with originals forwarded only if they can't be copied, plus overnight delivery for urgent notices. Its agent page lists state compliance notices and annual report reminders among what an agent passes on to owners. If you want ZenBusiness to file the Mississippi report itself, it lists Annual Report Filing $100 per report, which is a charge for filing a report the state doesn't bill for. The agent renews automatically; you cancel by contacting customer support by phone, and a refund applies only if the service has not yet been used. See the ZenBusiness review.^{13, 14, 15}

LegalZoom

LegalZoom's agent is $249/year (first-time registered agent customers). Its agent renews at the purchase rate each year; rate subject to change. It lists legal documents scanned and uploaded and email reminders about annual report deadlines via Compliance Calendar. For a one-off filing of the Mississippi report, LegalZoom lists $99 + state filing fees, bills once; with no state fee here, that price is the whole bill. Cancellation is by phone or online via My Account, and proof of new RA may be required, so have the statement of change accepted before you call. Prepaid fees for the current term are refunded only when LegalZoom terminates the service. LegalZoom doesn't state its state coverage on the pages we checked. See the LegalZoom review.^{16, 17, 18}

Bizee

Bizee's agent costs $149/year and renews at $149/year (ongoing annual fee), with a free first year with any Bizee formation package. Legal papers served on the LLC are mailed via FedEx with tracking, and the agent service comes with free lifetime compliance notifications. Bizee sells annual report filing, with no standalone price stated. Bizee's cancellation term starts with the state filing: you cancel by assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change. Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings bills by the quarter, at $149 per quarter ($596/year), and the service auto-renews until cancelled. Documents go to an online account, and Swyft gives this timing for lawsuits: legal SOP typically within 2-3 hours. Its report service is ComplianceGuard $199/year, offered with a 14-day free trial then auto-charged; for a Mississippi LLC that yearly charge pays for filing a report the state charges nothing for. A replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation, which matches the order Mississippi's rules call for. Refunds are case-by-case by charge type and order status. doola

doola's agent page lists $297 per year, and with formation its listing reads "RA free with Formation Service", without saying for how long. It offers same-day scans and annual report notifications. Paper forwarding is not included in base RA subscription unless stated in plan. Its cancellation term reads "Delete account any time", and a refund is possible if application cancelled before it is sent to the state. doola doesn't state its state coverage on the pages we checked. Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest charges $125 per year and has offices in all 50 states plus D.C. and Puerto Rico. Legal documents are uploaded to your account, with normal business mail scanned up to 5 docs per year free. Its terms say agent customers are automatically enrolled in Compliance Services (annual report filing), billed in annual auto-pay, and that report service is $100 + state fees, charged at filing. In Mississippi the "state fees" part of that is nothing. You can cancel anytime through the online account; no cancellation fee, and purchases are non-refundable after 90 days. Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer's agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership, so the membership is part of the price: Plus is $249/year and Pro is $349/year. Report filing is $100 with Pro membership only. Documents are scanned and uploaded to email and account. The service renews in successive 1-year terms, you cancel any time by phone, before renewal date, and refund requests must come within 30 days of purchase. InCorp Services

InCorp charges $129/year, which it calls a $129 per year flat rate; its terms say service is billed at then-current fee unless a cancellation condition is met. Legal documents are scanned and delivered same day. Its report service is $89 + state fees, and the state fee part is nothing in Mississippi. To stop paying, one of InCorp's listed conditions must be met before the annual fee is due: dissolve entity, appoint new agent, or resign InCorp with fees. Harbor Compliance

Harbor Compliance lists $99 first year (new customers), then $159 annually. Clients get a Client Portal and Entity Manager. Its managed report service is $199 per state per year plus filing fees, the same yearly figure Swyft lists for ComplianceGuard, for a filing Mississippi doesn't charge for. To stop the agent renewing, give notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term. Its terms read "No refunds; fees non-refundable". More in the Harbor Compliance review.^{43, 44, 45}

What does a registered agent cost a Mississippi LLC in year one and after?

In year one, a Mississippi LLC pays the $50 Certificate of Formation fee plus the agent's first-year price. From year two, the agent's renewal is the main recurring cost, because the annual report is $0.²

Where first-year and renewal prices split apart, the gap shows up in a few ways.

• Bizee's agent is included for the first year with formation, then costs $149/year (ongoing annual fee).²⁰
• ZenBusiness takes 50% off the first year ($99) for LLCs it forms and then charges $199/yr.¹⁴
• Harbor Compliance starts lower for new customers and renews at $159 annually.⁴³
• Swyft Filings quotes a quarterly price, so multiply before comparing.
• Rocket Lawyer adds the agent price to a yearly membership.

A paid report service is the other line that can recur. Because the state's report fee is $0, any report-filing charge you add is pure service fee; filing it yourself online costs nothing. If you plan to keep the LLC for years, sort the price table by renewal rather than first-year price.
