Best LLC formation services in Nebraska

Facts checked October 13 to 14, 2026.

A Nebraska LLC is formed by filing a Certificate of Organization with the Nebraska Secretary of State, which costs $100 online or $110 in office. There is no paid expedite to buy; the state says online filings are processed first. The LLC must also run a newspaper notice for 3 successive weeks and file proof of it. A formation service files the same certificate and adds its own fee, and its packages differ mainly in the agent, the EIN, the operating agreement and how fast the provider itself works.1, 2, 3

Nebraska law uses the term agent for service of process. Most states call the same role a registered agent. What the term means in Nebraska

How do you form an LLC in Nebraska, step by step?

Pick a name, line up an agent and a designated office, file the Certificate of Organization (online is quickest), publish the notice, then get an EIN and sign an operating agreement.

  1. Choose and check the name. Search the Nebraska Secretary of State's business records to confirm nobody else holds the name. To hold a name before you're ready, an application for a reserved name costs $30.1
  2. Find an agent for service of process. Nebraska's statute says the agent must be an individual who is a resident of this state or other person with authority to transact business in this state (Neb. Rev. Stat. § 21-113). That can be a Nebraska resident, including you if you live in the state, or another person with authority to transact business there. The Nebraska agent guide covers who qualifies and what goes on the record.4
  3. Settle the designated office. Nebraska also asks for a designated office, an in-state office which need not be a place of its activity in this state. The certificate lists its street and mailing address in a separate field from the agent.4, 5
  4. Complete the Certificate of Organization. The certificate names the initial agent for service of process and the designated office, among other details. A service fills it in for you; filing yourself, you use the state's form or its online system.5
  5. File it. Nebraska takes filings online, in person or by mail. The fee is $100 online or $110 in office, and the state adds $10 for a certificate if one is requested. Because online filings are processed first, an online filing is the closest thing Nebraska has to an expedite option. The state doesn't publish a standard processing time.1, 6
  6. Publish the notice. Notice of the new LLC runs for 3 successive weeks in a legal newspaper near the designated office. Afterwards, proof of publication is filed with the Secretary of State; that proof filing costs $30 in office / $25 online. The newspaper sets its own price, which the state doesn't publish, so ask for a quote early.3
  7. Get an EIN. The IRS, not the state, issues the Employer Identification Number, the LLC's federal tax ID. Banks usually want it before opening a business account.
  8. Sign an operating agreement. It records who owns what, who decides, and what happens when an owner leaves. Several packages below include a template.
  9. Put the first biennial report on the calendar. Nebraska's recurring filing is the Biennial Report (due April 1 of odd-numbered years; delinquent June 16). Staying compliant in Nebraska has the dates and what happens if it is missed.7

What does a Nebraska LLC cost with and without a service?

The state's charges don't change with the route you choose, and every provider below adds them on top of its own price.

"Not listed" means the package description doesn't mention the item, so ask before you order. The first-year and later-year arithmetic, renewals included, is on the cheapest ways to form a Nebraska LLC.

What does each provider's formation package include in Nebraska?

The paragraphs follow the provider table's order: our score, highest first, ties in editorial order (how we score).

None of the package descriptions we cite mention a newspaper notice, so expect to arrange it yourself unless a provider says otherwise. The agent services themselves are compared on the Nebraska agent for service of process comparison.

Tailor Brands

Lite, the entry package, costs $0 plus state fees and has the LLC processed within 14 business days. Its plan list shows Lite without annual compliance, operating agreement or branding tools. Essential, at $199/yr plus state fees, moves processing to within 1 business day, and its feature list includes annual compliance (report filing and updates), operating agreement. Since Nebraska's report is biennial, the filing side of that feature has work in odd-numbered years. The plans don't say whether an agent is included; the agent is priced on its own at $199/year (renews at the same price). Elite runs $249/yr plus state fees, and like Essential it bills every year.8, 9

ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness's Starter costs $0 + state fees (does not renew) with processing of 7-10 days, a figure that excludes Secretary of State time. Starter carries Worry-Free Compliance free for 1 year (then $199/yr), and the EIN and operating agreement are +$99 add-ons. ZenBusiness packages leave the agent out and sell it as an add-on +$199/yr, though ZenBusiness offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. A faster Starter costs extra (Rush upgrade +$79 on Starter). Pro ($199 + state fees, renews at $199/yr) lists 1-day processing, 100% accuracy guarantee, Personal Velo AI guidance, ongoing filing compliance (state-required annual report filings and up to 2 amendments per year), EIN, operating agreement template, business logo builder.11, 32

LegalZoom

LegalZoom's lowest tier is $0 + state filing fees, and its item list starts with the articles of organization. At that tier the EIN ($79) and the operating agreement (from $99) are priced separately, and the agent is sold at $249/year (first-time registered agent customers). The middle tier, $249 + state filing fees, adds attorney consultations (30 days included, then $49/month auto-renew).13, 14, 15, 16

Bizee

Bizee's Basic is $0 + state fee, listing Registered Agent (1st year included); the agent then renews at $149/year (ongoing annual fee). Basic leaves out both the EIN, which Bizee sells for $70, and the operating agreement (+$99). Standard, $199 + state fee, adds both plus faster processing (~2 weeks), and Premium lists expedited filing (~4 business days). Nebraska's fee schedule lists no paid expedite, and the state says online filings are processed first, so ask Bizee what its faster handling changes for a Nebraska filing.2, 17, 18, 33

Swyft Filings

Swyft's Basic costs $0 + state fees, and its plan list names Preparation and filing of Articles of Organization; 100% accuracy guarantee; processes in 7-10 business days. Standard, at $169 + state fees (promotional, 'SAVE $30'; regular $199), adds custom organizational minutes, custom banking resolution, business banking essentials, operating agreement and processes in 3 business days. No agent appears in the package lists; it is sold at $149 per quarter ($596/year). Every plan starts a trial of ComplianceGuard $199/year, described as a 14-day free trial then auto-charged, so cancel or keep it on purpose, bearing in mind that a Nebraska LLC files only in odd-numbered years.19, 34, 35

doola

doola's Starter is $297/yr, a yearly charge, and includes LLC filing, EIN, US bank account guidance, US business address, registered agent. doola says it files within 1-2 business days, after which the state's own processing applies. It also says it works with a non-resident without a US SSN; see agent services for non-resident founders.20, 21, 36

Northwest Registered Agent

Northwest's formation package is $39 + State Fees and adds a free domain name, open source website, phone line, business email, business address, brand protection to the filing. The agent question is unsettled: its corporation page says formation there ($39 + state fees) includes a year of agent service, while its LLC page doesn't say. Bought alone, the agent is $125 per year. The operating agreement is listed as a Free template, and the EIN costs $50 (with SSN); $200 without SSN.22, 23, 24, 25, 37

Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer ties formation to membership: First registration free with a Rocket Lawyer membership. Memberships bill yearly (Standard $149/year, Plus $249/year, Pro $349/year), and membership starts with a trial: Free 7-day trial, then billed yearly. The agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership, which rules out Standard. The EIN is $70 with Plus or Pro membership; no operating agreement is listed with formation.26, 27, 38, 39

InCorp

InCorp prices formation starting at $99 plus state fees, and the only inclusion its listing names is live chat and phone support. The agent is sold separately at $129 per state per year, and the EIN service is $69. InCorp also charges for its own expedited processing ($50.00 InCorp expedite fee); Nebraska's fee schedule lists no paid state expedite, so that fee covers InCorp's side only.28, 29, 30, 40

Harbor Compliance

Harbor's formation starts at $99 plus state fees, and its page lists Name check, articles, registered agent, EIN, operating agreement without saying which tier carries which item or how long an included agent lasts. Harbor says it can prepare and file the forms for most LLCs in one business day, and that it can expedite state processing in most states (price not published). The agent on its own is $99 first year (new customers), renewing at $159 annually.31, 41, 42

Should you file the Nebraska certificate yourself or use a service?

Filing online yourself means paying $100 online and handling the name search, the agent, the designated office and the newspaper notice on your own. A service takes over the form, but not the cost of the notice.1

Nebraska's online system is where speed comes from: the state says online filings are processed first. So a provider's "rush" option can shorten only its own preparation time. ZenBusiness, for example, says its timing excludes Secretary of State time.2, 11

A Nebraska resident can be the LLC's own agent, which removes the yearly agent fee. The trade-off is that your name and address go in the agent field of the certificate, and you need to be at that address to receive legal papers. A commercial agent puts its address there instead, as every agent does; it doesn't change the designated office or the other addresses on the certificate. For a separate public address, some providers sell one, such as Swyft Filings' business address at $29/mo.19

Watch for charges that recur after formation. Yearly packages, free compliance trials and bundled agent years all renew, and a yearly compliance plan bills in even-numbered years when no Nebraska report is due. If the LLC has several owners or outside money, a lawyer's review of the operating agreement is worth weighing against a template. The glossary defines the filing terms, and annual reports explained covers how report services work across states.

Questions about forming an LLC in Nebraska

How long does it take to form an LLC in Nebraska?

The Nebraska Secretary of State doesn't publish a standard processing time. It does say online filings are processed first, so filing online is the faster choice. A formation service adds its own preparation time before the state starts, and the newspaper notice then runs for 3 successive weeks.2, 3

Can I pay to expedite a Nebraska LLC filing?

Not with the state. Nebraska's fee schedule lists no expedite fee, and the state says online filings are processed first. Provider rush options, such as Rush upgrade +$79 on Starter, speed up only the provider's own work.2, 11

Who handles the Nebraska newspaper notice?

Usually you do, because none of the formation package descriptions we cite include it. The notice runs in a legal newspaper near the designated office for 3 successive weeks, and then proof of publication is filed with the Secretary of State for $30 in office / $25 online. Ask a provider directly if you want it handled.3

Is it cheaper to file the Certificate of Organization online?

Yes. The fee is $100 online, compared with $110 in office, and the state says online filings are processed first. Filing in person or by mail remains available.1, 2, 6

Do formation packages include a Nebraska agent for service of process?

Some do. Bizee's Basic includes the agent for the first year (Yes, first year), while ZenBusiness sells it as an add-on +$199/yr. Compare the renewal price too; agent services compared for Nebraska lists each one.11
