Best agent for service of process services in Nebraska
Facts checked October 13 to 14, 2026.
All 10 services on this page sell registered agent service, which Nebraska law calls an agent for service of process, and most of them publish nationwide coverage; LegalZoom and doola don't state theirs on the pages we cite. Under Neb. Rev. Stat. § 21-113, the agent must be an individual who is a resident of this state or other person with authority to transact business in this state, so the agent doesn't have to be a Nebraska resident. Two features of Nebraska shape the choice. The state's recurring filing is a Biennial Report, not a yearly one, so a compliance plan billed every year covers a report filing only every other year. And switching agents later is inexpensive ($25 online, $30 in office), which puts more weight on renewal prices and notice periods than on the first-year offer.1, 2, 3
Nebraska law uses the term agent for service of process. Most states call the same role a registered agent. What the term means in Nebraska
How is this list ordered, and which facts did we line up?
Providers appear by our score, highest first; where two scores tie, the order is editorial and says nothing about which is better.
The score combines each provider's Trustpilot rating with published facts on service breadth, the dashboard and mail scanning, what a comparable package includes, and what forming an LLC with an agent costs through the first renewal. How we score shows the method and every breakdown. We compare what providers publish and don't test services ourselves.

"Score" is our editorial score out of 10, built from published facts: half from the Trustpilot rating, the rest from breadth of services, dashboard and mail scanning, and package value and two-year cost (how we score; scores approved 2026-10-14). We don't test services. Trustpilot ratings are third-party, cited to Trustpilot, and not adjusted.
For each provider we looked for the same set of facts: the agent price, the renewal price, how legal papers and ordinary mail reach you, any separate business address product, auto-renewal, the steps to cancel, refund terms, and what the provider charges to file a state report. A gap in that list means the provider doesn't publish it. The background on the role itself is in what an agent for service of process does.
Which Nebraska rules change how you compare agent services?
Three of them: the separate designated office, the biennial report and the publication notice. None makes one provider qualify where another doesn't, but each moves the cost or the paperwork.
The designated office is its own field. Nebraska asks every LLC to keep a designated office in the state, an office which need not be a place of its activity in this state, and the Certificate of Organization asks for its street and mailing address separately from the initial agent for service of process. A commercial agent's address goes in the agent field, as with any agent. Whether a provider will also let you list its address as the designated office isn't stated in the provider facts we cite, so ask before you file. The address rules in full are on the Nebraska agent for service of process guide.1, 4
The report is biennial. Nebraska LLCs file by April 1 of odd-numbered years, and the state says an LLC whose report is still missing on June 16 will be administratively dissolved. Providers price report filing in two ways. Some charge per filing, such as Northwest ($100 + state fees, charged at filing) or InCorp ($89 + state fees). Others sell a yearly plan, such as Swyft Filings' ComplianceGuard $199/year or Harbor Compliance's $199 per state per year plus filing fees. In an even-numbered year a Nebraska LLC has no report due, so a per-filing price is charged only in report years, while a yearly plan also bills in the years between. Staying compliant in Nebraska has the full calendar.2, 5, 6, 7, 8
Publication runs near the designated office. A new LLC's notice is printed for 3 successive weeks in a legal newspaper near the designated office, and afterwards proof of publication is filed with the Secretary of State. The rule ties the newspaper to the designated office, not to the agent's address. The Nebraska LLC formation guide walks through that step.9
How do the agent services compare for a Nebraska LLC?
Each provider below keeps the same position it has in the table, with its published terms summarized under its name.
Tailor Brands
Tailor Brands lists its agent service at $199/year with renewal at $199/year (renews at the same price); the provider supplied both prices. It says it covers all 50 states and describes documents scanned and uploaded to the business dashboard. One term limits how the address is used: "Agent address cannot be used as the business location in public materials." If you want an address to show customers, it sells a separate Virtual Address product (price not published). Its terms set auto-renewal on by default for subscription services, and fees are non-refundable to the maximum extent permitted by law, with a $29 service fee deducted from any refund issued. The Essential package ($199/yr plus state fees) bundles annual compliance (report filing and updates); for a Nebraska LLC that filing work falls in odd-numbered years. Read the Tailor Brands review.10, 11, 12, 13, 14
ZenBusiness
ZenBusiness asks $199/year and renews at $199/yr, though it offers 50% off the first year ($99) when you form an LLC. You receive scanned copies, with originals forwarded only if they can't be copied, and it offers mail and overnight delivery for urgent notices. Cancelling is done by contacting customer support by phone; a refund is available only if the service has not yet been used. Its report filing options are Annual Report Filing $100 per report or Worry-Free Compliance $199/year; in Nebraska the yearly plan keeps billing through the even-numbered years, when no report is due. See the ZenBusiness review.15, 16, 17
LegalZoom
LegalZoom's agent costs $249/year (first-time registered agent customers), and the service renews at the purchase rate each year, with the rate subject to change. Its agent page lists documents scanned and uploaded for digital access, and for other mail it says it will upload the documents to your account and email you. You can cancel by phone or online via My Account, though proof of new RA may be required, so have the Nebraska statement of change filed first. Its agent terms say prepaid fees are refunded only when LegalZoom terminates the service. A one-time report filing is $99 + state filing fees, billed once, so the charge comes only in a year when a report is filed. More in the LegalZoom review.18, 19, 20
Bizee
Bizee charges $149/year and renews at $149/year (ongoing annual fee). The agent is free for the first year with any Bizee formation package. Service of process is mailed via FedEx with tracking. It lists free lifetime compliance notifications, which cover reminders rather than filing. To leave, you cancel by assigning a new registered agent with the state and notifying Bizee of the change, so the Nebraska change filing comes before the notice to Bizee. Orders are generally refundable until payment is forwarded to a government entity. See the Bizee review.21, 22, 23, 24
Swyft Filings
Swyft Filings prices the agent at $149 per quarter ($596/year), billed quarterly, and lists renewal as $149 per quarter, auto-renews until cancelled. For lawsuit papers, its page gives a turnaround typically within 2-3 hours. Its help page says a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. Refunds are decided case by case, with no published time window. Its report plan, ComplianceGuard $199/year, bills every year, while Nebraska asks for a report every second year. Details are in the Swyft Filings review.7, 25, 26, 27
doola
doola's agent page shows $297 per year, and the agent is free with Formation Service. It offers same-day scans; physical forwarding is "Not included in base RA subscription unless stated in plan." Its agent service includes annual report notifications. Its general terms let you delete the account at any time or email help@doola.com; they don't set out separate steps for the agent service. doola doesn't publish its state coverage. More in the doola review.28, 29
Northwest Registered Agent
Northwest charges $125 per year and says it covers all 50 states plus D.C. and Puerto Rico. It lists normal business mail scanned up to 5 docs per year free, and separately sells Mail Forwarding $20/month (24 select states). Its corporation page says formation there ($39 + state fees) includes a year of agent service; the LLC page doesn't say so. Its auto-pay terms describe agent customers as auto-enrolled in Compliance Services billed in annual auto-pay; its report filing is $100 + state fees, charged at filing, so in Nebraska the charge comes only when a report is filed. You can cancel anytime through the online account, with no cancellation fee, and purchases become non-refundable after 90 days. Read the Northwest review.5, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35
Rocket Lawyer
Rocket Lawyer's agent is $125 with a Plus or Pro membership. Membership is billed on its own each year (Plus $249/year, Pro $349/year), so add both figures to compare. Papers are scanned and uploaded to email and account. You can cancel at any time by phone, before renewal date, and refunds must be requested within 30 days of purchase. See the Rocket Lawyer review.36, 37, 38
InCorp Services
InCorp prices the agent at $129/year and covers all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, U.S. Virgin Islands. Legal documents are scanned and delivered same day. Its terms say service continues and is billed at then-current fee unless a cancellation condition is met, and the listed conditions are to dissolve entity, appoint new agent, or resign InCorp with fees. Refund requests must come within 60 days of issuance of services. Its report filing is sold per report, $89 + state fees. The InCorp review has more.6, 39, 40, 41
Harbor Compliance
Harbor Compliance starts at $99 first year (new customers) and renews at $159 annually. It advertises same-day document scanning. Its terms renew the service unless you give notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, so the notice date falls well before the renewal itself. Its terms make fees non-refundable. Its managed report service is $199 per state per year plus filing fees. See the Harbor Compliance review.8, 42, 43
Which best-for lists apply to a Nebraska LLC?
Our best-for lists use the same published facts as this page, and three of them line up with Nebraska's rules.
- For report filing, the compliance list ranks providers that file the report for you ahead of those that send reminders only. Tailor Brands' Essential package includes annual compliance (report filing and updates); Bizee publishes free lifetime compliance notifications but no report filing price.
- For a public business address separate from the agent field, the privacy list covers providers that sell one, such as Bizee ($29/month; 1 month free with Bizee LLC formation).44
- For founders outside the U.S., the non-resident list includes doola, which says it can help a non-resident without a US SSN.45

What does an agent for service of process cost in Nebraska, at the start and after?
Year one is the Certificate of Organization fee, $100 online or $110 in office, plus the agent's first-year price and the cost of the newspaper notice. Year two adds the agent renewal, plus the biennial report fee whenever that year is odd-numbered.3
The Nebraska Secretary of State doesn't publish newspaper rates, so ask the paper for a quote. Filing the proof of publication costs $30 in office / $25 online, and the report fee is $30 (paper filing).9, 46

Where the first-year and later prices split, the gap appears in a few forms.
- A discounted first year: ZenBusiness takes half off when you form with it, then charges $199/yr.16
- A free year tied to formation: Bizee's free agent year turns into $149/year (ongoing annual fee) afterwards.22
- A new-customer price: Harbor Compliance moves from $99 first year (new customers) to $159 annually.42
- A membership on top: Rocket Lawyer's agent price sits beside a Plus or Pro fee.
Changing agent later costs $25 online or $30 in office on the Statement of Change (designated office, registered agent/office). For the full formation arithmetic, see the cheapest ways to form a Nebraska LLC, or put two providers side by side on our comparison page.3
Nebraska agent for service of process: common questions
Is a compliance subscription worth it for a Nebraska LLC?
It depends on the price model, because Nebraska LLCs file a biennial report, due by April 1 of odd-numbered years. A yearly plan such as ComplianceGuard $199/year bills in years with no report due. Per-filing prices, such as LegalZoom's $99 + state filing fees billed once, are charged only when a report is filed.2, 7, 20
What does it cost to switch agent services in Nebraska?
The Nebraska Secretary of State charges $25 online, $30 in office for a statement of change. The old provider's terms can cost more: Harbor Compliance requires notice at least 90 days before the end of the current term, and Swyft Filings says a replacement agent must be designated (or business dissolved) before cancellation. File the change before you cancel, and see how to change an agent for service of process.3, 26, 43
Can a commercial agent's address be my designated office in Nebraska?
The provider facts we cite don't say. Nebraska requires a designated office in the state, which need not be a place of its activity in this state, listed separately from the agent on the Certificate of Organization. Ask the provider whether it allows its address there, and check the Nebraska guide for the address rules.1, 4
What happens if my agent resigns in Nebraska?
Its agency ends on the 31st day after the Secretary of State files the resignation or when a new agent takes effect, whichever comes first, and the SOS sends a copy to the LLC's designated office. That copy goes to the designated office, so keep that address current. A new statement of change names the replacement; how to cancel an agent for service of process covers the order of steps.47
How is the list on this page ordered?
By our score, highest first, with tied scores in editorial order. Trustpilot ratings make up the largest part of the score and describe each company as a whole, not its Nebraska service. How we score explains the rest, and the first-time founder list and all-in-one list use other orderings.
